For applying for this position, please send an email to with your resume. Quick applications on LinkedIn will not be considered. Applications are invited for a JRF/PhD position in the Mechanical and Aerospace Eng. department, Mahindra University for a project sponsored by the Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR&DB), DRDO. Project title: Design Optimization of Turbine Nozzle Guide Vane Three-Dimensional Airfoils Description of the work: In this project, you will have to carry out design optimization of a high-pressure turbine stage of a fighter aircraft engine. The work will involve conducting CFD simulations of various stator vane designs using ANSYS CFX, followed by surrogate-based optimization driven by the CFD results. Proficiency in Python or MATLAB is required, as you would have to develop and implement scripts for data handling, surrogate model development, and optimization routines. The primary objective is to minimize aerodynamic losses caused by secondary flows, thereby enhancing the overall performance of the turbine stage. You will work in close collaboration with the Gas Turbine Research Establishment (GTRE), DRDO, and your research findings will directly contribute to the design of next-generation combat aircraft engines. Required Qualifications: The prospective candidate should hold an M.E./M.Tech or equivalent degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from a reputed institute. A strong interest in aerospace propulsion is desirable. The candidate is also expected to have working knowledge of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) and proficiency in programming using MATLAB or Python. Exceptional candidates with a B.Tech degree and strong academic credentials may also be considered. Salary: Monthly remuneration is going to be around Rs. 45,000. About the university: Mahindra Ecole Centrale was established in the year 2014 as a collaboration between the Mahindra Group (consisting of Tech Mahindra and Mahindra automotive etc.) and the prestigious Ecole Centrale Group of Institutions of France. Mahindra Ecole Centrale transformed into the full-fledged Mahindra University in the year 2020. The JRF will work at the Ecole Centrale School of Engineering, Mahindra University in our spacious 140 acre campus in Hyderabad city. Please visit for further details. Project investigators: (PI) Dr. Ravi K. Bompelly, Associate Professor Interested candidates, please send your CV/resumes to at the earliest.
