Age Range: Between 40 – 50 Years Job Summary The Unit Head will oversee the entire operations of the sheet metal manufacturing unit, ensuring efficient production, quality assurance, timely delivery, workforce management, and compliance with safety and regulatory standards. This role requires strong leadership, technical knowledge of sheet metal fabrication processes, and a focus on continuous improvement and cost optimization. Key Responsibilities 1. Operational Management Lead daily operations of the sheet metal plant including production, maintenance, quality, and dispatch. Monitor production KPIs such as output, yield, efficiency, rejection rates, and downtime. Ensure adherence to production plans and timely delivery schedules. 2. Production Planning & Control Coordinate with the planning team to ensure material availability and machine utilization. Optimize workflow and production layout for better throughput and minimal wastage. 3. Quality Assurance Implement and maintain ISO/TS/IATF 16949 or other applicable quality standards. Review inspection and testing reports; take corrective and preventive actions. Promote a culture of “Zero Defect” and customer satisfaction. 4. Team Leadership Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of supervisors, engineers, and operators. Implement training programs to enhance skills and productivity. Ensure effective communication and employee engagement across all levels. 5. Maintenance & Asset Management Oversee preventive and breakdown maintenance activities. Ensure minimal downtime of key equipment such as CNC machines, laser cutters, press brakes, welding robots, etc. 6. Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Enforce strict compliance with safety protocols and statutory regulations. Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments. Foster a safe working environment. 7. Cost & Inventory Management Monitor and control operational expenses, energy consumption, and material waste. Optimize inventory levels (raw material, WIP, finished goods) in coordination with stores and supply chain teams. 8. Continuous Improvement Drive lean manufacturing, 5S, Kaizen, TPM, and Six Sigma initiatives. Identify opportunities for automation and process optimization. Required Skills and Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical / Production / Industrial Engineering (Master’s preferred). 12–20 years of experience in sheet metal fabrication, with at least 5 years in a leadership/plant head role. Strong knowledge of sheet metal processes: cutting, bending, welding, stamping, surface treatment, etc. Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, etc.) and production planning tools. Hands-on knowledge of quality systems, EHS, lean principles, and automation technologies. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
