About the Role: The Field Manager will lead and coordinate on-the-ground implementation of a mangrove restoration project in Sundarbans, West Bengal . This role requires a dynamic individual with strong field management skills, technical understanding of mangrove ecosystems, and community engagement experience. The Field Manager will work closely with stakeholders including local communities, government agencies, scientific experts, and project partners to ensure timely, high-quality, and inclusive delivery of project objectives. Roles and Responsibilities  Manage and coordinate all the mangrove project activities under the guidance of the Project Lead Oversee day-to-day field operations including site selection, nursery establishment, plantation, and monitoring of mangrove restoration activities. Guide and oversee field staff and ground operations Visit and validate the plantation activities frequently during the plantation season , inspect and corroborate all the ground activities, prepare weekly reports on observation and share them with the project lead Interact with NGO representatives and SHG members involved in the project and maintain a working relationship with them Identify gaps in the overall project implementation, report and give suggestions for Improvement  Understand the degradation pattern and reason in the project area Understand and have good visibility of the decision-making process of all the ground partners and implementers for the project Meet landowners (GPs) under this project at least once to understand their motivation and incentives to participate Understand the formal and informal governance structure of all the villages under the project Evaluate and report any conflict that has arisen and the possibilities of any future conflicts between any project participants Ensure field-level compliance with the project protocols and requirements, and organizational policies. Qualifications and Experience: Bachelor’s or master’s degree in forestry, Environmental Science, Marine Ecology, Coastal Management, or a related field. Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in managing field-based coastal or mangrove restoration projects. Proven skills in managing field teams, community engagement, and stakeholder coordination. Familiarity with mangrove ecology, native species, plantation techniques, and wetland hydrology. Ability to use GPS, mapping tools (e.g., QGIS/ArcGIS), and conduct ecological surveys. Fluency in Bengali language and working efficiency in English. NOTE: Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted
