Job Title: Inverter System Engineer – Functional Safety (FuSa)Department: Electrified Powertrain / Systems Engineering / Functional Safety.Exp - 7+ Years to 10 YearsLocation: Midlands, UKNotice Period: Immediate to 30 Days️ Role OverviewWe are seeking a seasoned Inverter System Engineer with Functional Safety (FuSa) expertise to lead the specification, integration, and safety assurance of automotive inverter systems for electric and hybrid vehicles. The role blends system-level architecture design with ISO 26262-compliant safety lifecycle activities, ensuring our inverter solutions are high-performing, robust, and certifiably safe for global vehicle platforms.Key Responsibilities⚙️ Inverter System EngineeringDefine and manage inverter system-level requirements across performance, interfaces, and safety boundariesDevelop functional and technical architecture integrating hardware, software, and vehicle systemsCoordinate cross-functional design reviews and ensure end-to-end traceability through development and validationSupport integration testing, performance verification, and root cause analysis within the V-model lifecycle️ Functional Safety (FuSa)Lead safety lifecycle activities aligned to ISO 26262:2018 , including system-level safety planningConduct and document key safety analyses: HARA , FMEA , FTA , FMEDADefine ASIL requirements , safety goals, and technical safety concepts for inverter platformsCollaborate with HW/SW teams to implement and verify safety mechanisms and diagnosticsPrepare safety case documentation and support OEM safety sign-off milestonesTechnical LeadershipAct as lead technical representative for inverter system and safety topics across internal and external stakeholdersGuide junior engineers and promote best practices in safety-led systems engineeringLiaise with OEMs, Tier 1 suppliers, and certification bodies to ensure compliance and integrationQualifications & Experience✅ Essential:Bachelor's or Master’s in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or Automotive Engineering7+ years of experience in automotive systems engineering with a focus on inverter developmentMinimum 3+ years of Functional Safety experience, ideally on power electronics and inverter systemsExpertise in ISO 26262 and ASPICE-compliant processesProficient with safety tools: DOORS, Polarion, Medini, PTC Integrity, or equivalentPreferred:Familiarity with high-voltage EV architectures and powertrain integration strategiesExperience with CAN, LIN , diagnostic protocols, and model-based designAwareness of cybersecurity (ISO/SAE 21434) and its application to inverter systemsStrong leadership, analytical, and technical documentation skillsWhat You’ll Gain:Strategic role in delivering safe and high-performance inverter platforms for electrified mobilityOpportunity to shape cutting-edge power electronics and safety-critical technologiesLeadership in an evolving industry with potential for innovation and career growth
