Key Responsibilities: Design, deploy, and manage Confluent Kafka clusters (on-prem and/or cloud). Configure and monitor Kafka components including Connect, Schema Registry, ksqlDB, and REST Proxy. Develop and manage Kafka Connectors (source and sink), custom transformations, and integrations. Provide L2/L3 support to customer-facing environments and act as SME for Kafka-related issues. Use Conduktor Console for Kafka topic monitoring, debugging, ACLs, schemas, and client visibility. Automate Kafka provisioning, scaling, and monitoring using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible). Implement and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Kafka-related services. Develop scripts (Python, Shell, Bash, or Groovy) to support automation, troubleshooting, and monitoring. Collaborate with application and data teams to ensure reliable and efficient use of Kafka pipelines. Maintain security best practices (encryption, SASL/SSL, RBAC). Monitor cluster health, latency, and throughput; troubleshoot performance bottlenecks. Required Skills and Experience: 6+ years of hands-on experience with Apache Kafka and/or Confluent Platform . Strong understanding of Kafka internals (brokers, partitions, offsets, replication, retention). Experience using and administering Conduktor Console or equivalent Kafka UIs. Proficient with Kafka Connect , Schema Registry , and Kafka REST Proxy. Experience in DevOps practices — CI/CD pipelines, version control, release automation. Solid scripting knowledge: Python , Bash , or Shell . Experience with monitoring tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog, or Splunk. Hands-on with container platforms: Docker and Kubernetes . Familiarity with cloud-native Kafka deployments Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills — ability to explain Kafka behavior to dev teams or clients.
