Job Description

The role of a Technology Architect in HDFC Bank's retail channel team is essential for ensuring that the bank's technology infrastructure effectively supports its retail operations. This position involves a blend of strategic planning, technical expertise, and collaboration with various stakeholders. Here are the key responsibilities associated with this role: Architectural Design and Implementation Technology Solutions Development: The Technology Architect is responsible for designing and implementing technology solutions that meet the specific needs of the retail banking segment. This includes evaluating existing systems and proposing enhancements to improve performance and efficiency. System Integration: Ensures seamless integration of various IT systems within the retail channel, enabling smooth data flow and operational efficiency across different platforms. Stakeholder Collaboration Interface Between Business and IT: Acts as a liaison between business units, technology teams, and IT vendors. The Technology Architect gathers requirements from business stakeholders and translates them into technical specifications for development teams. Project Management: Collaborates with project managers to oversee key projects' execution related to retail banking technology. This includes monitoring project progress while addressing challenges to ensure timely delivery. Technical Oversight Technical Documentation: Maintains clear documentation of technical specifications, architectural decisions, as well as code changes to ensure transparency while facilitating future enhancements. Quality Assurance: Reviews system designs alongside implementations to ensure adherence to architectural standards as well as compliance requirements best practices. Innovation & Technology Evaluation Emerging Technologies Assessment: Continuously evaluates new technologies (e.g., cloud computing; AI; machine learning) identifying opportunities for innovation enhancing customer experience along operational efficiency in retail banking contexts. Vendor Management : Engages technology vendors assessing their solutions negotiating contracts ensuring products align bank’s architectural vision effectively. Risk Management Security & Compliance Oversight: Ensures all technology solutions designed robust security measures place protecting sensitive customer data complying regulatory standards. Risk Assessment: Identifies potential risks associated implementations develops strategies mitigate effectively. Continuous Improvement Performance Monitoring: Establishes metrics evaluate performance implemented technologies within channel analysing system performance data identify areas improvement. Feedback Mechanisms: Implements processes gathering feedback users refine based real-world usage changing needs. A strong educational background in computer science, information technology, or a related field is often a prerequisite, along with 12+ years of experience in IT, starting from Backend/Full Stack experience. Prior experience in roles like software development, system engineering, doing POC, creating frameworks, setting up coding standards, doing a lot of code review are critical Strong understanding of various technologies, including cloud computing, networking, security, databases, and software development frameworks and how to build frameworks and platform across technologies would be required. Good functional understanding of Retail Branch Banking is desired.
