A CCTV technician installs, maintains, and repairs closed-circuit television systems, including cameras, DVRs/NVRs, and associated wiring. Key responsibilities involve site surveys, system configuration, troubleshooting technical issues, performing regular maintenance, and training users on system operation. Core responsibilities Installation: Conduct site surveys to assess security needs and plan camera placement. Mount and position cameras, run cables, and connect power sources. Install and configure Digital Video Recorders (DVRs) or Network Video Recorders (NVRs). Maintenance and repair: Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance on equipment. Troubleshoot and diagnose system malfunctions, and perform necessary repairs or replacements. Ensure all systems are functioning optimally and comply with safety standards. Configuration and administration: Configure network settings for IP-based systems. Manage video data storage and ensure footage is recorded and stored securely. Support and documentation: Provide technical support and training to users on how to operate the systems. Maintain detailed logs of installations, maintenance activities, and troubleshooting efforts. Create and maintain as-built plan drawings after installations. Collaboration and reporting: Work with security personnel and law enforcement when needed.
