Job Title

A Theatre Electrician (or Stage Electrician/Technician) implements lighting designs by setting up, wiring, and operating lighting and electrical equipment for theatrical productions, concerts, and live events. Key responsibilities include interpreting lighting plots, safely installing and focusing fixtures, managing power distribution, programming and operating lighting consoles, maintaining equipment, and collaborating with designers and technical directors. The role requires physical labor, including working at heights, and a strong understanding of electrical systems and safety. Key Skills and Qualifications Technical Knowledge: A strong understanding of theatrical lighting equipment, including conventional fixtures, intelligent lights, and lighting consoles. Manual Dexterity: Proficiency with hand and power tools, wiring, and working with electronic and mechanical systems. Physical Stamina: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, such as climbing ladders, working at heights, and carrying heavy equipment. Collaboration: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with lighting designers, technical directors, and other crew members. Problem-Solving: The ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues under pressure and with minimal information.
