About the Role: Role- Safety Officer (Mines) Location- Angul, Odisha Key Responsibilities: Implementation of Safety Management System in Mines Conducting HIRADEC of all the activities associated with mine workings, HEMM operation, Maintenance etc. Identification of Critical Risks and implementation of elimination and control measures Enforcement of PPEs compliance at all areas of Mines. Periodic Audit and regular inspection of Mine workings to identify gaps and highlight the same with CAPA. Promote reporting of leading indicators-Near Miss, Unsafe Act, Unsafe Conditions and rectification of the same. Ensure installation of Safety Features in HEMM and cross-verifying healthiness at Regular Interval. Incident investigation and CAPA implementation Daily Toolbox brief / Safety briefing to all workers Conducting Training & Awareness Session - On Site & Classroom, externally & internally Conducting Mock drills at regular interval. Organize safety weeks and other safety education and propaganda programs in mine. Active Participation in events like Star Rating, QC Projects, Kaizen etc. Conducting publicity propaganda and safety campaign as per Annual Safety Theme Conducting Pit safety Committee meeting. Ensure that Emergency Preparedness and Response plan is put in place and requirements of the same are implemented. Proper functioning of the First Aid Center/First Aid Room, availability of Ambulance & Paramedical staff. Desired Experience & Qualification: Bachelors Degree in Mining Engineering First Class Managers Certificate of Competency, Coal Minimum 10 years of working experience in Opencast or Underground Coal Mines. Relevant experience of working as safety officer in Opencast Coal Mines will be preferred. Technical/ Management Skill Required: Sound knowledge of Mines Act, Mine Rules, Coal Mine Regulations and DGMS Circulars. Knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety management systems, IMS, Star rating etc. Sound knowledge of risks associated with opencast coal mine workings, HEMM operation and maintenance practices along with its control and mitigation measures Ability to develop and on ground implementation of Safety Management Plan, HIRADEC, SOP, COP, standing order etc. Strong verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of Industry best practices and ability to implement best in class safety standard at Opencast Coal Mines.
