Job Description

Job Title: Construction Planning and Monitoring Engineer Location: Sonbhadra (Uttar Pradesh) Department: Project Management Reports To: Sr.GM Civil Experience Required: 8-10 years (with minimum 5 years in hydro/ PSP projects) Qualification: B.E./B.Tech in Civil / Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or equivalent Tools: Primavera P6, Microsoft Office, MS Project, MS Excel, MS Word, AutoCAD and Power BI (optional but preferred) Key Responsibilities: Project Planning and Scheduling Prepare and maintain Level 1 to Level 5 schedules for Civil, HM, and EM works using Primavera P6/MS Project. Break down EPC/BoQ scope into WBS (Work Breakdown Structure) aligned with project milestones. Develop detailed baseline construction schedule in coordination with engineering, procurement & execution teams. Incorporate major packages such as civil excavation, underground caverns, dam, intake, HRT, surge shaft, powerhouse, TRT, etc. Progress Monitoring & Reporting Daily/Weekly/Monthly tracking of progress vs. baseline schedule. Generate dashboards and MIS reports (physical & financial) for internal and external stakeholders. Highlight critical paths, schedule delays, slippages, and float consumption. Assist in preparing catch-up schedules for delayed activities. Coordination & Interfaces Coordinate between EPC contractors, design consultants, and procurement teams to ensure sequencing logic is maintained. Support interface planning for civil-HM-EM linkages (e.g., embedment items, EOT crane, transformer deck readiness). Liaise with central planning teams and incorporate owner milestones and third- party clearances (EC, FC, ROW). Change Management & Risk Track schedule impacts due to scope changes, design revisions, weather events, or contractor issues. Support risk assessments and prepare mitigation strategies. Maintain records of changes and provide inputs for Extension of Time (EOT) claims. Resource Planning Analyse resource loading (labour, equipment, material) across schedule to detect bottlenecks. Support deployment planning of contractors' manpower and machinery. Digital & Analytics (Optional) Use digital tools like Power BI, drone progress tracking, 3D model integration (4D planning) where applicable. Support Digital Twin and AI-driven progress prediction initiatives, if applicable to corporate strategy. Key Competencies: Hands-on expertise in Primavera P6 and experience in hydro/infra construction projects. Knowledge of hydro civil structures, tunnel works, pressure shafts, penstocks, EM interfaces. Strong analytical and communication skills. Ability to work under pressure in a dynamic site environment. Familiar with contract clauses (FIDIC/CPWD-like) related to time management. Preferred Experience: Prior exposure to hydropower / tunnel / dam / PSP / heavy civil infrastructure projects. Experience with multi-package interface management. Knowledge of construction methodologies for underground caverns, deep shafts, and surge tanks. KPIs / Success Metrics: Schedule adherence (% deviation from baseline). Timeliness of reports/dashboards. % of activities on critical path monitored in real-time. Effective forecasting accuracy for slippage and recovery.
