Position: Engineering HeadLocation: Hajipir Plant, Kutch, GujaratDepartment: Engineering, Designation: AGMReporting To: GM – OperationsQualification: B.E./B.Tech – Mechanical EngineeringExperience: 15–22 years in Chemical / Process Industry with strong exposure to plant engineering,projects & reliability.Position OverviewThe Engineering Head will lead the complete engineering function for Archean Chemical Industries’Hajipir plant, which includes Bromine extraction units, Salt operations, Feed Enrichment Plant(FES),utilities and off sites. The role ensures high plant reliability, availability, statutory compliance, andefficient maintenance across Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation and Civil functions.Thisposition plays a pivotal role in driving asset integrity, engineering excellence, project execution,resource optimization, and continuous improvement aligned with Archean’s Responsible Care andprocess safety requirements.Key ResponsibilitiesA. Plant Maintenance & Reliability Lead preventive, predictive and breakdown maintenance for all engineering disciplines. Ensure uptime and reliability of Bromine extraction towers, reaction systems, brinehandling, utility boilers, compressors, pumps, HVAC, electrical distribution systems andinstrumentation loops. Implement condition monitoring, RCA, reliability engineering, and asset management bestpractices. Maintain optimum spares inventory, AMC management, and vendor coordination.B. Project Engineering & Capex Plan and execute plant engineering projects, expansions, modifications, and debottleneckinginitiatives. Prepare technical specifications, BOQs, tendering, technical bid analysis, and contractormanagement. Ensure timely completion of civil and structural projects (buildings, foundations, roads, tankfarms, pipe racks). Lead design validation, HAZOP, HIRA, and P&ID reviews.C. Safety, Statutory Compliance & Standards Ensure all engineering practices meet RC Logo certification, process safety standards, andstatutory requirements (PESO, GPCB, Electrical Inspectorate, Boiler Inspector, Factories Act). Drive MOC (Management of Change), SOP implementation, permit-to-work systems, andhigh safety performance in engineering jobs. Ensure equipment integrity through statutory inspections, testing and certifications.D. Utility & Infrastructure Management Manage operation and maintenance of utilities:o Boilers, cooling towers, air compressors, DG sets, water system, fire-fightingsystems, electrical substations. Ensure efficient energy usage and implement energy-saving initiatives.E. Team Leadership & Development Lead and develop a multidisciplinary team of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation andcivil engineers. Build a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and safety-first mindset. Coordinate with Production, Quality, SCM, Safety and Projects teams for smooth plantoperations.F. Continuous Improvement Implement 5S, TPM, Kaizen, and digitalization in maintenance practices. Drive cost reduction initiatives through reliability improvement, lifecycle management, andspare optimization.Key Skills & Competencies Strong technical expertise in chemical plant machinery/equipment. Hands-on knowledge of statutory norms (PESO, Boiler Act, IE Rules, GPCB norms etc.). Expertise in asset reliability, project execution, RCA, SAP Plant Maintenance. Leadership, team building and stakeholder management capabilities. Problem solving, analytical mindset and ability to handle complex engineering challenges.Preferred Industry Background Bromine / Chlor-Alkali / Inorganic chemicals Salt manufacturing Chemical derivatives / Specialty chemicals Petrochemicals / Continuous process plantsPerformance Indicators (KPIs) Plant uptime & reliability (%) Breakdown frequency and MTBF/MTTR Statutory compliance score Project delivery: time, cost, quality Maintenance cost vs budget Safety: zero LTI, zero major incidents Resource & energy efficiency improvements
