Position OverviewWe are seeking a skilledElectrical Solar Designerwith 2–3 years of experience in solar PV system design, project engineering, and planning. The ideal candidate will have hands-on involvement in solar project execution and a strong understanding of electrical design principles, project workflows, and industry standards. This role involves preparing detailed solar PV designs, supporting project planning activities, and ensuring that all technical deliverables are accurate, efficient, and compliant with regulatory requirements. Key Responsibilities 1. Solar PV System Design Prepare detailed solar PV system layouts for rooftop and ground-mount projects. Develop electrical designs including single-line diagrams (SLDs), wiring schematics, inverter configurations, and protection systems. Size electrical components (cables, breakers, fuses, conduits) as per NEC, IEC, and local codes. Conduct shade analysis and energy generation modeling using tools such asHelioscope, Aurora, PVsyst, or similar. 2. Project Planning & Coordination Work closely with project and planning teams to assist with scheduling, design milestones, and material planning. Support project managers with design revisions, site clarifications, and technical coordination with installation teams. Participate in design review meetings and provide technical input during project execution. 3. Technical Documentation Prepare permit drawings, engineering documents, construction-ready design packages, and as-built drawings. Ensure all design documents meet the standards required by the client, utility, and local authorities. Support the preparation of BOQs, material lists, and technical specifications for procurement. 4. Site Assessment & Feasibility Analyze site data, roof layouts, land surveys, and structural constraints to prepare optimal system designs. Conduct site visits when required to verify field conditions and gather technical data. 5. Compliance & Quality Assurance Ensure designs adhere to applicable electrical codes and industry standards. Perform quality checks and revise designs based on feedback from senior engineers or field teams. Optimize designs for safety, cost, energy efficiency, and constructability.Required Skills & Competencies (Updated) Technical Skills Proficiency in AutoCADfor preparing electrical drawings, layouts, SLDs, and construction documents. Hands-on experience with Helioscopefor solar PV system modeling, layout design, shade analysis, and performance simulation. Knowledge of other design tools such asPVsyst, Aurora, SketchUp, or equivalent (preferred). Strong understanding ofelectrical engineering fundamentals, including DC/AC sizing, cable selection, protection design, and load calculations. Familiarity withNEC/IEC codes, safety standards, and utility interconnection requirements. Ability to prepare BOQs, material lists, and technical specifications. Project & Coordination Skills Experience working inprojectorplanning departments, including coordination with site teams and project managers. Ability to interpret site surveys, structural drawings, and field data for accurate system design. Strong documentation, revision control, and quality-checking skills.
