Embark on this transformative journey with us as we revolutionize process optimization, resolving complex challenges and elevating industrial plant operations to new heights.About the RoleWe are seeking a Computational Chemical Engineer (Process Modelling) to join our core engineering team. You will work alongside our Senior Computational Chemical Engineer to apply computational modelling techniques to solve challenging problems in chemical process engineering. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career engineer to develop expertise in process simulation, first-principles modelling, and data-driven approaches while contributing to real customer projects. You will receive mentorship and hands-on experience across a broad range of technical challenges as you grow into the role.Required Skills & CompetenciesChemical Engineering Fundamentals Solid understanding of core principles including thermodynamics, reaction kinetics, transport phenomena, and material balances. Ability to apply theoretical knowledge to practical engineering problems with guidance. Awareness of process feasibility, safety implications, and environmental considerations.First Principles Modeling Familiarity with developing mechanistic models based on fundamental physical and chemical principles. Ability to simulate chemical processes to predict system behavior under various operating conditions. Willingness to learn and apply models for process design, control strategies, and scale-up procedures.Process Simulation Software Working knowledge of at least one industry-standard platform (Aspen Plus, Aspen HYSYS, gPROMS, AVEVA PRO/II, DWSim, or IDAES). Ability to build and troubleshoot steady-state process flowsheets with support. Basic understanding of thermodynamic property packages and simulation convergence.Data Analysis Ability to extract, clean, and preprocess datasets from process historians, laboratory systems, and simulation outputs. Familiarity with statistical analysis to identify trends, correlations, and anomalies. Ability to create visualizations and basic dashboards to communicate findings.Python Programming Ability to write scripts for process data manipulation, analysis, and visualization. Familiarity with common scientific computing libraries (NumPy, Pandas, Matplotlib, or similar). Commitment to writing readable, documented code suitable for team collaboration.Communication & Collaboration Ability to communicate technical concepts clearly in written and verbal formats. Willingness to prepare technical documentation and contribute to reports. Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary teams. Openness to feedback and eagerness to learn from senior team members.Preferred Skills & CompetenciesProcess Control Fundamentals Basic understanding of control systems for chemical processes, including PID controllers. Exposure to dynamic simulation concepts. Interest in learning optimization techniques for process efficiency and yield improvement.Machine Learning Fundamentals Familiarity with basic supervised and unsupervised learning concepts. Interest in applying data-driven models to process engineering problems. Exposure to or coursework in machine learning tools (scikit-learn, TensorFlow, or similar).Version Control (Git) Basic understanding of Git workflows including commits, branching, and pull requests. Ability to collaborate on shared codebases and maintain clear documentation.Agile Methodology Familiarity with or willingness to learn Agile practices including sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives. Ability to manage tasks, meet deadlines, and communicate progress within iterative cycles.AI Tools Familiarity Openness to using AI-powered tools for code development, documentation, and problem-solving. Interest in evaluating emerging tools to enhance productivity.Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. 0–2 years of relevant experience (including internships, co-ops, or academic research projects). Exposure to at least one process simulation platform through coursework, projects, or work experience. Demonstrated ability in Python programming for engineering or scientific applications. Strong foundation in chemical engineering principles. Eagerness to learn and grow in a fast-paced startup environment.Preferred Qualifications Master's degree in Chemical Engineering or a related discipline. Internship or project experience in process modelling, simulation, or data analysis. Exposure to process control concepts or optimization techniques. Familiarity with machine learning applications in engineering contexts.
