Procurement Manager - Maritime Industry (Based in Delhi NCR) THE ORGANIZATION : This is a key role in the organisation. As Procurement Manager, you will lead a sizeable team and be responsible for timely and cost-effective procurement of parts, tools, machinery spares and related supplies for sea-going vessels, strengthening vendor relationships and ensuring full alignment with global processes and standards. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Procurement Management : Oversee day-to-day procurement activities for an assigned fleet of vessels, providing guidance and decisions on complex or critical cases. Act as escalation point and operational backup for vessels handled by your team members. Ensure compliance with global procurement standards and SLAs. Vendor and Cost Management : Ensure use of approved and preferred vendors and adherence to established procurement policies and procedures. Monitor open purchase requisitions and purchase orders, driving timely closure and minimising backlogs. Identify opportunities for cost optimisation, consolidating bulk purchase requirements and coordinating with strategic sourcing and finance teams. Resolve commercial disputes with suppliers related to price, quality or quantity before invoice settlement. Maintain and update vendor databases. Continuous Improvement : Participate in procurement projects and initiatives as assigned by senior management. Support vendor evaluation and rationalisation activities and contribute to improving processes, turnaround times and service levels. Team Leadership & Development : Lead and manage a team of procurement professionals (executives). Provide hands-on training, coaching and day-to-day guidance to newly joined and existing team members. Collate regular feedback from the team on vendor performance and share structured inputs with management. Project Support: Actively support superintendents and executives during urgent or emergency situations affecting vessels, ensuring rapid sourcing and coordination with vendors. Take ownership of procurement activities related to dry dockings and vessel take-overs into the fleet. YOUR PROFILE: Bachelor’s degree in Maritime, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field. 10+ years of procurement experience preferably within maritime, shipping, or related technical environments. Good understanding of parts, tools, machinery spares and related supplies used on sea going vessels. Strong understanding of end-to-end purchase processes, including PR/PO management, vendor selection and commercial negotiations. Solid working knowledge of MS Excel and experience with procurement/ERP systems. Exceptional leadership, communication, and problem-solving abilities. Strong analytical and commercial skills, with a focus on cost-effective solutions. Ability to lead, structure tasks, resolve conflicts, and drive team success. Proven resilience and ability to manage multiple tasks within tight deadlines.
