Job Summary:A Civil Engineer specializing in Land Development & Drainage is responsible forplanning, designing, and overseeing the transformation of raw land into functionalsites for residential, commercial, industrial, or mixed-use purposes. This roleintegrates site layout, grading, utility design, and stormwater management to ensuresafe, sustainable, and regulatory-compliant development.Key Responsibilities:Site Assessment & Feasibility:Evaluate land for development potential, considering zoning, topography, soilconditions, and environmental constraints. Determine if the site can support theproposed developmentPlanning & Design:Prepare and review construction documents, including grading, utility layouts,street design, and drainage/detention/water quality plans. Develop site plans thatintegrate roads, utilities, and stormwater management systems .Drainage System Design:Design stormwater management and drainage systems to ensure safe water flow,prevent flooding, and comply with environmental standards. This includes sizingand specifying detention basins, culverts, and storm sewersPermitting & Regulatory Compliance:Oversee and coordinate the permitting process, ensuring all designs meet local,state, and federal regulations. Prepare detailed engineering reports, projectproposals, and budget estimates as required for approvalsProject Coordination:Collaborate with architects, surveyors, contractors, and government agencies.Present information and recommendations to stakeholders, including citycouncils and leadership teamsConstruction Oversight:Monitor construction activities to ensure adherence to plans and specifications.Address field issues and provide technical guidance during project execution.Skills & QualificationsProficiency in civil engineering design software (e.g., AutoCAD Civil3D).Strong understanding of land development processes, site grading,and drainage principles.Effective communication and teamwork skills for coordination withmultidisciplinary teams.Knowledge of permitting procedures and regulatory requirements
