The Technical Fellow will be the primary consultant to Executive Leadership, providing vision and solutions on Mechanics to achieve company goals.Key Objectives of this Role:- Material specialist in the engineering team for all the material related matters with a focus on plastic resins behavior, manufacturing processing like molding, selection of compatible painting (if required), and engineering its performance by adding suitable fillers/additives. - Understand customer requirement and guide the engineering teams for the material selection, preparing material specification document - Stay up to date on emerging materials and technologies, and asses their potential use for the various application in the automotive application, with a focus on cockpit electronics products and battery management systems, - Bring his/her professional expertise and knowledge in the key aspects of materials evaluation, using predictive engineering tools to design and optimize the materials faster and more cost-effectively, instead of relying on expensive and time taking experiments. - Analyzing material failures or defects and recommend corrective actions or material alternatives. - Ensure all selected materials comply with environmental safety and industrial specific regulations like REACH, RoHS, ASYTM, ISO etc. - Evaluate and recommend appropriate materials based on functional requirements like impact strength, thermal endurance etc. - Understanding of various packaging and enclosure materials used in high power electronics used in automotive applications. - Effective utilization of engineered plastics for lighter assembly, better thermal management and improved EMC/EMI performance. - Lead and approve Mechanical Design Reviews from material point of view - Support and approve mechanical risks assessment on project - Provide technical guidance to mechanical engineers, including mentoring and coaching. - Create or update guidelines - Share Lessons Learned with mechanical engineering community - Support VAVE initiatives by providing some ideas and assessing technical feasibility - Drive innovations in Mechanical domain and lead development on new technologies - Provide to Executive Leadership technical solutions and vision. - Based on selected material, support tooling processKey Performance Indicators:- Design issues after tool kick-off and product validation - Respect of Technical Design Review process and timing - BOM cost - Lessons learned sharingKey Year One Deliverables:- No non-conformity in Process for Technical Design Reviews on projects he/she is supporting - One training session provided to mechanical engineering communityQualification, Experience and Skills:- Master’s degree or PhD (preferred) in the Material Science/Polymer science with relevant industry experience. - 12+ years of relevant engineering experience preferably in regional or global environment. - Experience in Automotive products development, preferably in Displays, Infotainment, Cockpit Electronic products, Electrification vehicles products. - Familiarity with TALC requirements of cockpit electronic products. - Proficiency in failure analysis tools and techniques is an added advantage - Exposure to mechanical product development and testing domains. - Ability to direct and solve complex problems - Proven supervisory and technical leadership especially in identification and resolution of technical problems. - Ability to share knowledge and to mentor and coach mechanical engineers - Ability to clearly communicate with alignment depending on audience - Ability to provide innovative technical solution as original thinker - Ability to use technical skills to make significant impact on projects regarding cost, timing, quality - Exposure to Global Culture/Customer is added advantage.Key Leadership Behaviors:- Collaboration - Critical Thinking - Resilience - Result Orientation - Visteon values and beliefsReporting Structure: This role reports to Senior Manager – Mechanical Global OperationsVisteon Culture: If you thrive in a fast-paced, organizational culture that requires agility, adaptability, and a growth mindset from its employees to thrive and stay ahead of the curve Visteon is the place.
