About ThirdAI Automation:ThirdAI Automation builds the next generation of industrial intelligence — an agentic AI system that understands complex manufacturing data, performs deep causal reasoning, and automates engineering decision-making.Most of the world’s hardest industrial problems, semiconductor fabrication, battery production, automotive systems, utility operations, are bottlenecked by fragmented, multimodal data: logs, alarms, waveforms, manuals, specs, FDC traces, sensor streams, Jira tickets, PDFs, spreadsheets, emails, and tribal knowledge. We use LLMs, vision models, causal inference engines, and time-series ML to transform this chaotic data universe into reliable, explainable root-cause insights. Our platform is currently used by leading semiconductor, energy, and manufacturing organizations. We move fast, build ambitiously, and obsess over engineering quality. If that excites you, you'll thrive here.Role Description:This is a full-time hybrid role for an Applied Scientist in Machine Learning based in Bengaluru, with flexibility to work from home on occasion. The role primarily involves conducting research, developing and refining machine learning algorithms, and applying pattern recognition techniques to complex data problems. The Applied Scientist will work on designing innovative solutions for root cause analysis and knowledge mining, collaborating closely with cross-functional teams to implement AI-driven systems. We'd love to meet you if you:Philosophy:You are your own toughest critic. You don't settle for “good enough.” You dive deep, own outcomes, and raise the bar for everyone around you.Builder’s Mindset:You move quickly, prototype aggressively, debug fearlessly, and take pride in shipping high-impact systems used by real customers.Curiosity:You care about why things break. You love exploring noisy time-series, chasing anomalies, understanding failure modes, and turning chaos into insight.Technical Depth:- You understand LLMs, RAG systems, feature pipelines, time-series modeling, and can write clean, high-performance Python code. What you will work on:- Develop advanced ML algorithms for time-series, logs, and waveform-based diagnostics - Build and optimize LLM/RAG pipelines, including structured extraction, hybrid search, and domain-specific reasoning - Collaborate with engineering teams to productize ML models into reliable, customer-facing systems - Work with product teams to define use cases, benchmarks, and evaluation frameworks - Design scalable frameworks for multimodal ingestion (documents, logs, sensors, alarms, images) - Contribute to patents, technical architecture docs, and research publications - Lead ML projects independently and help shape the scientific direction of the companyRequirements:- BS/MS/PhD in AI/ML, Computer Science, EE, Applied Math, or a related field - 2–5 years of experience in ML research or applied ML roles (flexible depending on degree) - Strong programming skills in Python (R/C++/Java optional but useful) - Hands-on experience with LLMs, RAG architecture, prompt engineering, or fine-tuning - Experience building and scaling ML systems, preferably in real-world applications - Familiarity with time-series modeling, anomaly detection, statistical methods - Strong analytical ability, comfortable experimenting, evaluating, and iterating fast - Excellent collaboration and communication skills - Passion for industrial automation, manufacturing data, and solving real-world problemsBonus if you have:- Previous startup or early-stage product-building experience - Experience working directly with customers or field engineering teams - Background in semiconductor, manufacturing, battery systems, or industrial data - Contributions to open-source ML/LLM tooling - Experience building agents or autonomous reasoning systemsWhy join ThirdAI Automation:- Build frontier AI for one of the largest and least-automated sectors in the world - Work on multimodal, unsolved ML problems with massive industry impact - Ship features to real customers at semiconductor fabs, utilities, and advanced manufacturing lines - High agency, low bureaucracy, and direct influence on product direction - Competitive compensation, ESOPs, and rapid growth opportunities - A team that values curiosity, craftsmanship, velocity, and ownershipIf you’re driven, ambitious, and excited to push the boundaries of industrial AI, we’d love to talk.Interested candidates can reach us at: jobs@ or just apply here from LinkedIn
