We operate at the intersection of technology, regulation, and financial services, with a strong focus on trust, governance, and regulatory excellence.Role OverviewWe are seeking an experienced In-House Advocate to lead and manage legal, regulatory, and compliance matters across our fintech and payments ecosystem. The ideal candidate will have hands-on exposure to RBI and NPCI regulations, strong contract management skills, and the ability to work closely with business, product, and compliance teams in a fast-paced startup environment.Key Responsibilities:Regulatory & Compliance- Interpret, implement, and monitor compliance with RBI, NPCI, and other applicable fintech/BFSI regulations. - Liaise with regulators, banks, NPCI, and external counsel on regulatory queries, audits, and inspections. - Support internal compliance programs, policies, SOPs, and regulatory reporting. - Track regulatory updates and proactively assess their impact on business operations.Contracts & Commercial Legal- Draft, review, negotiate, and manage a wide range of agreements, including: - Vendor and service agreements - Bank and partner agreements - Payment gateway and NPCI-related contracts - NDAs, SLAs, MSAs, and employment-related documents - Ensure contracts align with regulatory requirements and company risk appetite.Litigation & Dispute Management- Handle and oversee litigation, notices, and legal disputes. - Coordinate with external advocates and law firms. - Manage responses to legal notices, consumer complaints, and regulatory communications.Corporate Governance- Support corporate governance, board matters, and statutory compliance. - Assist with policy formulation, risk management, and internal legal controls. - Work closely with senior management to provide practical legal advice on business decisions.Required Qualifications & Experience- Law graduate (LLB / LLM) from a recognized university. - 5–12 years of relevant experience, preferably in fintech, payments, BFSI, or regulated financial institutions. - Strong working knowledge of RBI regulations, NPCI rules, payment systems, and fintech compliance. - Proven experience in contracts, compliance, litigation management, and corporate governance. - Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a startup environment.Key Skills & Competencies- Strong legal drafting and negotiation skills - Excellent understanding of fintech and payments regulations - Commercial and business-oriented legal mindset - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills - High attention to detail with a proactive, problem-solving approachWhy Join VIYONA Fintech?
