This role is responsible for project planning, stakeholder coordination, cost control, quality management, risk mitigation, safety compliance, timely commissioning, and handover to O&M.With 10–12 years of industry experience, the individual is expected to lead large, cross-functional teams, manage multiple contractors, resolve complex interfaces, and act as a primary contact for Client, DISCOM, Consultants, and Senior Management.What We’re Looking For:We seek a proactive, technically strong professional who can act as the custodian of quality for the organization’s solar assets. The ideal candidate should combine deep technical understanding of solar components and systems with a practical, on-ground approach to quality assurance and risk management. They should be comfortable working across functions—engineering, procurement, construction, and operations—and confident in dealing with vendors, EPCs, and certification agencies. A strong sense of ownership, attention to detail, and commitment to delivering best-in-class project standards are essential qualities for success in this role.Key Responsibilities1. Complete Project Ownership- Own end-to-end project execution from mobilization to commissioning & handover - Define project execution strategy, structure, timelines and resources - Manage overall project P&L, budget control and margin protection - Establish project governance framework & reporting mechanism2. Planning & Scheduling- Review and finalize: - Master Project Schedule - Procurement Plan - Resource Deployment Plan - Construction Sequence - Monitor critical path using Zoho Projects / MS Project / Primavera - Conduct weekly/monthly review meetings and implement recovery plans3. Client & Stakeholder Management- Act as the single point of contact for: - Owner’s Engineer / Investor / Client - Utility / DISCOM / SLDC / CEIG - External auditors & Consultants - Lead progress review meetings and manage expectations - Handle variation orders, claims and contract change management4. Construction & Site Management- Oversee: - Civil works (roads, foundations, drainage, control rooms) - MMS / Tracker installation - Mechanical & electrical installation (modules, inverters, transformers) - Pooling substation / Switchyard (33kV – 220kV) - Transmission line works where applicable - Monitor productivity, quality, safety & subcontractor performance5. Procurement & Vendor Control- Coordinate with SCM for procurement of: - Modules, inverters, transformers, MMS, cables, SCADA, etc. - Approve vendor selections along with procurement team - Monitor manufacturing, inspections, dispatch & delivery schedules - Mitigate impact of delays or shortages6. Financial & Commercial Control- Track project cost vs budget (BOQ vs Actuals) - Control variations & evaluate contractor bills - Drive cost optimization without impacting quality - Support Lender’s Engineer & financial closure compliance7. Quality Assurance & HSE Leadership- Ensure quality compliance with: - IS/IEC/IEEE/CEA standards - Project QA/QC plan - Client specifications - Enforce HSE culture – Zero LTI objective - Lead safety audits and ensure corrective action closure8. Testing, Commissioning & Handover- Lead testing & commissioning activities including: - String testing, IR, Continuity - Inverter & Transformer testing - Protection relay & synchronization tests - Ensure performance ratio (PR) meets guaranteed threshold - Lead final acceptance, handover & documentation closure9. Reporting & Governance- Provide: - Weekly progress reports - Monthly MIS & management dashboards - Risk & mitigation reports - Report directly to leadership on: - Progress, Risks, Budget, Manpower, SafetyTechnical Competency- Strong experience in: - Utility-scale solar (30 MW to 200+ MW) - C&I / Captive / Group Captive / Open Access projects - Strong understanding of: - Evacuation systems (33kV / 66kV / 132kV / 220kV) - Protection schemes, SCADA, weather stations - Tracker vs fixed-tilt systems - Hands-on knowledge of: - SLDs, Load Flow, Protection Studies, Layouts - Performance Ratio optimization - Grid compliance & interconnection studiesKey Tools & Software- Zoho Projects / MS Project / Primavera P6 - Advanced Excel & MIS dashboards - AutoCAD (reading & redlining) - SCADA / Power Monitoring SystemsQualifications & Experience:- B.E / B.Tech in Electrical / Mechanical / Civil Engineering - 10–12 years in Solar EPC / IPP / Renewable Energy industry - Minimum 2–3 utility projects above 50 MW or multi-site C&I portfolios - PMP / PRINCE2 / PMI-ACP – Preferred - Proven experience in vendor audits, FAT/PDI inspections, and EPC quality supervision. - In-depth understanding of PV modules, inverters, transformers, MMS, and balance-of-system components. - Familiarity with ISO 9001, IEC, IS standards, and MNRE/CEA regulations. - Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills. - Willingness to travel to project and manufacturing sites as required.Note: This job description is intended to provide a general overview of the key responsibilities and requirements associated with the role.
