Job Description

-Bangalore & Remote ·3 months ·Paid + performance bonusAbout the role:We’re designing a home robot that quietly does the boring stuff: mops the floor, moves chairs and tables, climbs stairs, and helps keep the house sane.Your job: help us imagine how this robot looks and moves through a real home – its body, its personality, and its motion style – together with the founding team.If you obsess over silhouettes, love characters like Baymax / WALL-E / Apollo, and dream in 3D… this might be your thing. What you’ll work on (in collab with us):You’ll collaborate closely with the founders to:- Explore friendly, non-threatening forms for a home robot: - A body that moves on the floor - Two arms that feel useful but not scary - A presence that feels safe around kids and families - Imagine how it moves: - Walking/rolling, climbing stairs, mopping as it moves - Moving around chairs, tables and tight spaces in a real apartment - Create concept explorations: - Silhouettes, quick sketches, character explorations, variations - Build 3D blockouts / models of the most promising concepts: - Rough internal volume for electronics, battery, mopping system and joints - Design simple motion / interaction sequences: - How it enters a room, looks around, adjusts furniture slightly, and cleansYou’ll get feedback, constraints and support from the founding team on robotics, scale, and realism as you go.By the end of the internship, we want a clear design direction for our first robot: look, proportions, movement language and a 3D base that can later evolve into a 3D-printable shell.Who you areYou’re a Bachelor’s or Master’s student in one of these (or similar):- Product / Industrial Design - Transportation / Mobility Design - Animation / Character Design (with strong 3D skills) - Any design discipline where you’ve worked with physical or 3D objectsYou have:- A portfolio that includes: - At least one physical product or 3D object (toy, device, robot, appliance, etc.) - At least one project that feels friendly, cute, or character-like - Strong skills in at least one 3D design tool: - Fusion 360, SolidWorks, Rhino, Onshape, Blender, etc. - Ability to think in form + function: - You don’t need to be a roboticist, but you respect gravity, stability, and internal space. - Comfort with sketching and iterating: - Silhouettes, form studies, multiple variations before “the one” - Some visual storytelling: - Showing how something moves or is used, not just a single beauty render - Clear communication: - You can talk through your decisions simply, in writing and on calls. You do not need prior robotics or hardware experience. If you can imagine believable movement and care about how things feel in the real world, we’ll bring the robotics context.Bonus points (nice-to-have, not required)- You’ve designed something meant to be 3D printed. - You’re curious about human–robot interaction, toys, home appliances, or consumer robots. - You’ve tried basic animation / motion tests in Blender, After Effects, or similar. What you get- A 3-month paid internship with a performance bonus. - A chance to co-shape the look and movement language of our first robot. - Close collaboration with the founding team building humanoids and home robots. - A standout portfolio project that’s more than “just another product” – it’s a robot families could live with. - Flexible remote work, with the option to meet and jam in Bangalore if you’re around.
