Job Description: Linguist (Freelance/Contract) – Multiple Indian Languages Role:Linguist Type:Freelance / Independent Contract Duration:As per project requirement Location:Remote Languages Required: Sindhi, Telugu, Tamil, Sanskrit, Rajasthani, Punjabi, Odia, Nepali, Marathi, Malayalam, Kannada, Goan, Konkani, Kashmiri, Hindi, Gujarati, English (India), Bhojpuri, Bengali, Assamese Role Overview We are seeking skilled linguists across multiple Indian languages to support AI/ML, data evaluation, and language quality projects. The linguist will be responsible for creating, reviewing, evaluating, and enhancing linguistic data to ensure accuracy, cultural relevance, and high-quality language output. Key Responsibilities Perform language evaluations including: Fluency, adequacy, and accuracy rating Quality checks of AI-generated text Safety and severity evaluations Side-by-side (SxS) comparisons Create high-quality content in the target language Edit, proofread, and rewrite content as required Evaluate translations for accuracy, clarity, grammar, and naturalness Conduct prompt evaluation, generation, and rewriting tasks Create linguistic guidelines or datasets as required Perform audio/video transcription, annotation, and summarization (as per project) Provide clear written justifications for linguistic decisions in English Follow instructions and project guidelines precisely Required Skills & Experience General Requirements (All Levels) Native-level fluency in the selected target language Strong command of written and spoken English Excellent grammar, vocabulary, and linguistic intuition Ability to follow written and spoken guidelines Attention to detail, accuracy, and cultural understanding Strong research ability and content development skills Level-Specific Requirements L1 – Native-Level Linguist Native-level proficiency in target language Ability to evaluate content using defined guidelines Ability to provide clear explanations in English Suitable for: SxS evaluations, safety checks, fluency/adequacy rating, annotation tasks L2 – Advanced Linguist Includes all L1 skills plus: Excellent English fluency Ability to evaluate translation quality Strong content-generation and rewriting abilities Experience in long-context evaluation, prompt testing, transcription, and audits L3 – Expert Linguist Includes all L1 & L2 skills plus: Professional linguist with 3+ years of experience Skilled in high-level content creation, audits, quality rewrites Ability to guide and review work of other linguists Preferred Qualifications Degree in Linguistics, Literature, Translation, or related field Prior experience in linguistic data projects, annotation, or content evaluation Familiarity with AI/ML, LLM, or data labeling environments (Nice to have) Contract Details Freelance/Independent contractor role Flexible working hours How to Apply If you are interested, please share your CV to sharmila@ along with your suitable language(s).
