Position DescriptionThis role requires deep expertise in Apigee architecture and implementation, strong cloud experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), and a proven ability to define and enforce API standards, security, and lifecycle governance. The successful candidate will collaborate with enterprise architects, security teams, and integration developers — including those working on MuleSoft — to build an integrated, secure, and future-ready API ecosystem.Note:Immediate JoinerIn Person Interview (coming Saturday/Sunday)Onsite - Brookfield BengaluruKey Responsibilities :Platform Setup & Architecture- Lead the greenfield implementation of Apigee-X (SaaS offering) as Burns & McDonnell’s enterprise APIM platform. - Build and configure SDLC environments. - Establish a North Star API Management architecture aligned with industry best practices. - Design and implement network topology, routing, and access controls across environments.Security, Governance & IAM Integration- Integrate Apigee with Google IAM for role-based access control, permissions, and governance enforcement. - Establish and implement authentication and authorization frameworks (OAuth 2.0, JWT, Mutual TLS, etc.) for both internal and external APIs. - Define and enforce security and governance policies across all API traffic — ensuring compliance, intrusion detection, and threat prevention. - Develop guardrails for API consumption, including rogue API detection, exception handling, monitoring, and analytics.API Lifecycle & Standards- Define and implement end-to-end API lifecycle management (Define, Design, Implement, Test, Deploy, Monitor, Retire). - Create developer guidelines, API patterns, and catalogs that are aligned with architectural principles and Burns & McDonnell’s business needs. - Establish a developer onboarding and governance framework, and onboard initial users from IT and technology solution teams. - Work closely with MuleSoft integration teams to align API management and backend integration strategies.Implementation & Delivery- Drive MVP implementation of prioritized use cases for production rollout. - Collaborate with integration, security, and cloud teams to deliver secure, high-performance APIs. - Monitor and tune API performance using Apigee Analytics to ensure operational readiness. - Contribute to building a roadmap for enterprise-wide APIM rollout and continuous improvement.Required Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field. - 8+ years of experience in API management and development, with at least 5 years of hands-on experience in Apigee (Edge or X). - Proven experience in setting up Apigee environments in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) — including networking, security, and deployment automation. - Strong understanding of API security protocols (OAuth 2.0, JWT, mTLS, API Key validation). - Experience integrating Google Cloud IAM, Cloud Armor, and Apigee Analytics. - Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform, or Cloud Build). - Strong knowledge of API lifecycle management, governance frameworks, and design-first API principles. - Excellent problem-solving, documentation, and cross-team collaboration skills.Preferred Qualifications- Google Apigee Certification (Apigee API Engineer or Architect). - Experience in greenfield APIM implementations or large-scale enterprise rollouts. - Familiarity with MuleSoft integration architecture (Knowledge of MuleSoft is a plus). - Exposure to multi-region API deployments, microservices, and hybrid architectures. - Working knowledge of DevSecOps, Kubernetes, and Terraform.
