Job Title: CAE Engineer (Reliability)Description:Nexteer Automotive is looking for a product engineer with experience in development and assessment of power electronics using computer aided engineering (CAE) tools. The candidate will be responsible for analyzing motors and controller assemblies in steering system modules. The candidate will evaluate design concepts and optimizations of existing designs with the results being confirmed with component testing. This position will interface with cross-functional teams at Nexteer including mechanical design, electrical circuit design, motors, systems, manufacturing and purchasing. Candidate must be a self-starting, willing to take on multiple projects with a desire to learn and grow with the team.Major Job Responsibilities:- Create CAE models of PCB/controller assemblies in ANSYS Sherlock and simulate validation test conditions. - Run fatigue and durability simulations of the controller sub-systems. - Conduct studies, using both analytical and experimental methods for providing solutions to improve reliability of the system. - Develop design of experiments by identifying key parameters that influence reliability and generate guidelines and best practices - Analyze structural & thermo-mechanical behavior of the system using Finite Element Analysis (FEA) tools - Support program specific product development application teams - Provide technical support to Nexteer manufacturing plants and suppliers - Schedule and coordinate with validation and product core and application teams in component testing activities - Assist in maintaining cost controls & stay abreast of recent technology developmentsQualifications:Minimum Degree: Bachelor’s degree, Master’s preferred.Major: Mechanical Engineering- 2 years of automotive industry experience in PCB assembly reliability analysis using ANSYS Sherlock is must - Must be proficient in ANSYS Sherlock - Experience in various structural analysis using FEA tools is required. - Experience in fatigue and durability analysis using Fe-safe preferred. - Working knowledge of CAD tools such as NX or Solidworks with a minimum of 5 years of professional/industry experience (preferred) - Understanding of power electronics, thermal and fluid behavior, thermo-mechanical systems, and manufacturing processes preferred - Basic understanding of GD&T, drawing standards and Mechanical Stacks - Demonstrate project leadership, good organization, and documentation skills - Strong computer application experience in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint - High level of analytical ability where problems are unusual or difficult - High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others
