Job Title: Renewable Solar Electrical Commissioning & Coordinator Engineer Qualifications & Experience: B. E / B.Tech, ME/MTech in Electrical Engineering, Power Systems, Renewable Energy Engineering, or equivalent. 9+ years of experience in solar PV commissioning, electrical testing, project coordination. Experience with Industrial / commercial large scale utility-scale solar projects is highly preferred. Knowledge of power system protection, MV/LV electrical equipment, and SCADA systems. Key Job Summary : The Renewable Solar Electrical Commissioning & Coordinator Engineer is responsible for planning, executing, and managing all commissioning activities for solar photovoltaic (PV) power projects, while also coordinating between engineering, construction, subcontractors, and utility partners to ensure smooth project delivery. This role ensures that electrical systems are installed, tested, energized, and handed over in accordance with technical specifications, industry standards, and safety requirements.Key Responsibilities 1. Commissioning & Electrical Testing Lead the commissioning of solar PV systems, including inverters, transformers, MV/LV switchgear, trackers, and SCADA systems. Perform pre-commissioning inspections, functional testing, performance verification, and system start-up. Execute energized testing, grid synchronization, and power performance evaluations. Troubleshoot electrical and communication issues, coordinating corrective actions with construction teams and vendors. Verify compliance with NEC/IEC standards, project specifications, and utility interconnection requirements. 2. Coordination & Project Management Coordinate commissioning schedules, resources, and activities with EPC contractors, subcontractors, and utility personnel. Facilitate communication between engineering, construction, QA/QC, and O&M teams. Lead daily/weekly coordination meetings and update stakeholders on commissioning progress and risks. Track project milestones and ensure commissioning activities align with overall project timelines. Coordinate vendor support for equipment start-up, testing, and warranty-related activities. 3. Documentation & Reporting Prepare commissioning plans, detailed test procedures, and method statements. Maintain accurate test records, inspection checklists, NCRs, as-built documentation, and punch lists. Generate daily reports, progress summaries, energization packages, and final commissioning dossiers. Review ITPs, quality records, equipment manuals, and compliance documentation. 4. Safety & Compliance Enforce safety procedures during commissioning, including LOTO, arc-flash precautions, and start-up safety protocols. Perform risk assessments and participate in toolbox talks prior to energization. Ensure commissioning practices follow all regulatory, environmental, and utility safety standards. 5. Technical Support & Training Provide engineering support to resolve installation and design issues. Assist in SCADA integration, inverter configuration, and communication network testing. Support O&M team training on system operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting after project handover.Technical Skills Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings (SLDs, schematics, wiring diagrams). Proficient with electrical testing tools: multimeters, insulation testers, relay testers, IV curve tracers, thermal imagers, etc. Understanding of communication protocols (Modbus, TCP/IP) and monitoring systems. Strong knowledge of NEC, IEEE, IEC, NFPA, and utility interconnection requirements. Soft Skills Excellent planning, coordination, and communication skills. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to manage multiple teams and activities simultaneously. Strong focus on safety, quality, and teamwork.Work Environment Field-based role with frequent travel to project sites. Outdoor work in varying weather and terrain conditions. Extended hours may be required during key commissioning phases.
