Job Description

Key responsibilities include:- Position OSS as a strategic enabler within Software Strategy by framing its value in terms of innovation, ecosystem collaboration, and long-term sustainability. - Influence and engage senior stakeholders across technology, product, and business functions to build alignment and momentum around OSS strategy. - Shape and evolve the strategic narrative around OSS, connecting it to Volvo Cars’ broader goals and helping leaders see it as an extension of their existing priorities. - Represent externally in OSS communities, foundations, and industry working groups (e.g., OpenChain, SPDX, LF), building visibility and credibility. - Build and nurture strategic relationships within the OSS and automotive ecosystems to identify opportunities for collaboration, contribution, and influence. - Drive internal adoption of OSS maturity models, governance frameworks, and best practices, ensuring they are understood, embraced, and scaled across the organization. - Monitor and interpret OSS trends, risks, and opportunities, providing strategic insights and recommendations to leadership.You might be the right fit if you:- Bring experience in open source strategy, governance, or community leadership within a global technology organization. - Understand OSS licensing, compliance tooling, and SBOM frameworks — not just technically, but in terms of how they support strategic goals. - Are familiar with OSS maturity models and frameworks (e.g., OpenChain, OSPO maturity models), and know how to use them to guide organizational growth. - Have a strong network in the OSS and automotive ecosystems, and know how to leverage it to build influence and open doors. - Communicate with clarity and empathy, and know how to engage diverse stakeholders across cultures and disciplines. - Are comfortable navigating ambiguity, shaping narratives, and helping others see OSS as part of their own strategic vision. - Believe in open collaboration, transparency, and ethical technology development — and know how to make those values actionable.
