Role: HR & Operations LeadRole SummaryWe are looking for an HR & Operations Lead who can help us build JAASN’s people engine and also anchor key admin and operations tasks in the early stages.In the near term, you will:Drive hiring for critical roles (engineering, data, technology team, consulting, specialist advisors etc.)Set up basic HR practices, documentation, and systems and ensure all legal compliances from an HR perspectiveHandle important admin tasks that keep the firm running smoothlyIn the long term, you will grow into the person who:Owns people-related processes (hiring, onboarding, performance basics, culture practices)Leads HR and internal operations as the company scalesThis is a generalist, hands-on role for someone who enjoys building things from scratch and is happy to contribute wherever needed, including tasks like making decks, coordinating with vendors, and solving day-to-day issues. Key Responsibilities1. Hiring & Talent Management (immediate priority)Work with the leadership team to understand role requirements and co-create sharp JDsSource candidates through:LinkedIn, networks, job platformsReferrals and direct outreachCoordinate the full hiring lifecycle:ShortlistingScheduling interviewsCandidate communicationOffer negotiation support and closureMaintain a simple but reliable candidate tracking systemHelp design and run a thoughtful onboarding experience for new hires2. HR Practices & People ProcessesSet up basic HR systems appropriate for a small startup:Employment / consulting contracts (in coordination with legal/CA)Leave tracking and simple policiesPersonal records and documentationSupport the leadership team in:Giving and recording feedbackSetting simple performance expectationsStructuring check-ins and reviews as the team growsBe a listening post for team concerns and help resolve small issues before they become big ones3. Admin & Operations (especially in the early stage)Manage key admin tasks such as:Coordinating with external vendors (office space, IT, travel, etc.)Helping with travel bookings, meeting logistics, and schedules when neededKeeping internal documents, folders, and basic processes organisedSupport with presentation and document preparation:Creating or polishing PowerPoints and basic reportsFormatting documents and ensuring external communication looks professionalCoordinate with the CA / finance support on basic operational matters (invoice copies, documents, etc.) as required4. Building for the futureGradually design and document HR policies and practices that match JAASN’s culture (not copy-pasted from large corporates)Suggest and run small culture / team-building rituals that help people feel connected and supportedHelp think about employer branding and how JAASN shows up to potential hires over time Ideal ProfileEducation: Graduate / Postgraduate degree; specialisation in HR is a plus but not mandatory if experience is relevantExperience: ~4–8 years of experience in:HR generalist / talent acquisition roles in startups or small companiesHR + Admin roles where you have handled both people processes and operations Skills & AttributesStrong ownership mindset: you like taking responsibility for outcomes, not just tasksComfortable working in a fluid, evolving environment where not everything is defined in advanceGood communication skills (spoken and written)Organised and detail-oriented, but flexible enough to handle last-minute changesComfortable with tools like:PowerPoint / Google SlidesExcel / SheetsAI tools like ChatGPT etc.Email, calendars, basic HR and recruitment toolsWillingness to roll up your sleeves and help wherever needed:From drafting a policy to booking a flightFrom screening a senior candidate to formatting a client deck Role DetailsLocation: Mumbai-based; with 2–3 days a month of travel to Pune if neededType: Full-time role with JAASNReporting to: JAASN leadership teamJoining: The requirement is immediate; we will prefer someone who can join us quickly, but are open to short notice periods for the right candidateCompensation: Competitive salary for a growing startup, with scope to increase as JAASN scales and your role grows Why this role might be a good fitYou want to build something from the ground up, not just maintain existing HR systemsYou like a mix of people work and practical operations, instead of being limited to one boxYou enjoy working closely with the leadership team and a small, high-calibre team, where your work is visible and genuinely moves the company forwardYou are looking for a role where “that’s not my job” is replaced by “how can I help?”Over time, this role can grow into Head of People & Operations as JAASN scales.
