Position: Legislative & Policy AssociateLocation: On-site (Bihar)Employment Type: Full-timeAbout the RoleWe are seeking a highly motivated and research-driven Legislative & Policy Associate to work closely with the office of a Member of the Legislative Assembly (MLA). The selected candidate will support policy research, legislative procedures, documentation, and strategic development initiatives.on-ground, on-site role, requiring the candidate to be based at the MLA’s designated location (to be communicated during the final stages of selection). The role offers a unique opportunity to contribute directly to governance, public policy, and constituency development.Key Responsibilities1. Legislative Research & Analysis•⁠ ⁠Conduct thorough research on legislative procedures, rules of the Assembly, and ongoing bills.•⁠ ⁠Prepare briefing notes, issue papers, and talking points for legislative sessions.•⁠ ⁠Track policy developments, government schemes, relevant notifications and emerging issues.2. Policy Development & Documentation•⁠ ⁠Assist in drafting new policy frameworks and program concepts.•⁠ ⁠Prepare white papers, research documents, and recommendations based on evidence and data.•⁠ ⁠Evaluate existing policies and suggest improvements.3. Constituency & Governance Support•⁠ ⁠Analyse key constituency issues, development indicators, and grievance patterns.•⁠ ⁠Assist in planning and monitoring constituency-level projects and initiatives.•⁠ ⁠Coordinate with officials, partners, consultants, and other relevant stakeholders.4. Communication, Documentation & Coordination•⁠ ⁠Draft speeches, reports, letters, and presentations for the MLA’s office.•⁠ ⁠Work collaboratively with teams handling outreach, field operations, and communication.•⁠ ⁠Prepare periodic updates, dashboards, and insights for decision-making.Required Qualifications & SkillsEducation•⁠ ⁠Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Public Policy, Political Science, Law, Economics, Development Studies, or related fields.Experience•⁠ ⁠1–4 years of relevant experience in public policy, governance, legislative work, research, or development sector preferred.•⁠ ⁠Exceptional freshers may also be considered.Skills•⁠ ⁠Strong analytical and policy research abilities.•⁠ ⁠Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (knowledge of Hindi or regional languages preferred).•⁠ ⁠Understanding of legislative processes, governance structures, and public administration.•⁠ ⁠Ability to work on-ground with multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced environment.•⁠ ⁠Proficiency in MS Office / Google Workspace; data analysis skills are an advantage.Key Attributes•⁠ ⁠High integrity and commitment to public service.•⁠ ⁠Strong interpersonal skills and ability to manage field-level engagements.•⁠ ⁠Attention to detail and problem-solving mindset.•⁠ ⁠Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information.What We Offer•⁠ ⁠Opportunity to work closely with an elected representative on high-impact governance initiatives.•⁠ ⁠Chance to contribute to meaningful policy, legislative work, and constituency transformation.•⁠ ⁠A dynamic environment with significant learning exposure.
