Location: Bangalore (with travel to Army / DPSU sites)Experience: 12–18+ yearsDomain: Aerospace / Defence / Mission Systems / SimulationEmployment Type: Full-time, On-site / HybridAbout the RoleWe are building a Unified Mission Planning & Debriefing System (U-MPDS) for Indian Army helicopter platforms, deployed across multiple operational units, operating on secured and air-gapped networks, and certified to defence standards. We are looking for an Overall Technical Lead / Chief Architect who will own the end-to-end technical architecture of the system — from mission planning algorithms and simulation integration to cybersecurity, deployment topology, and certification readiness. This is a hands-on leadership role, not a people-only role.Key ResponsibilitiesSystem Architecture & Technical Ownership- Define and own the overall software architecture for U-MPDS (offline-first, federated deployment). - Drive architectural decisions for: - Mission planning - Simulation / rehearsal - Multi-sensor debrief - Secure data handling and synchronization - Ensure the system scales cleanly across multiple Army units with optional command-level and central authority nodes.Mission Planning & Domain Logic- Lead design of navigation, waypoint, route, terrain, threat, and performance planning logic. - Ensure correctness, determinism, and traceability of mission computation algorithms. - Review and approve all mission-critical computation and validation logic.Security & Deployment Architecture- Define RBAC, encryption, signing, audit logging, and secure update mechanisms. - Own the sync and update strategy (USB / LAN / controlled WAN). - Ensure zero operational dependency on external networks. - Interface with cybersecurity and IT security stakeholders.Certification & Compliance- Act as the technical authority during: - IMTAR / DPSU design reviews - Architecture reviews - Certification audits - Ensure clean separation of operational vs maintenance functions. - Support preparation of: - FRD / ICD technical sections - Architecture descriptions - Compliance justificationsTechnical Leadership & Governance- Mentor and technically guide: - Backend engineers - GIS / simulation engineers - Integration engineers - Review designs, pull requests, and test strategies. - Drive technical risk identification and mitigation.Integration & Ecosystem- Lead integration with: - Third-party avionics / mission system tools - Simulation and debrief subsystems - Export interfaces (DTD / aircraft systems) - Ensure clean interfaces and future extensibility.Required QualificationsMust-Have- 12+ years of experience in aerospace, defence, mission systems, simulation, or safety-critical software - Proven experience as: - System Architect - Technical Lead - Chief Engineer (software) - Strong background in C++ / modern C++ and/or Java / Python for complex systems - Experience with offline / air-gapped / secured system deployments - Solid understanding of: - Modular monolith architectures - Deterministic system design - Configuration and version control at system levelStrongly Preferred- Experience with: - Mission planning systems - Flight simulators (FFS / FTD / PTT) - Defence ground systems - Familiarity with: - GIS / mapping (DTED, raster/vector maps) - Simulation engines or terrain engines - Exposure to IMTAR / CEMILAC / military certification processes - Prior interaction with Armed forces / Defence PSUsSoft Skills That Matter- Ability to explain complex architecture to non-software stakeholders - Comfort operating in formal review environments - Calm decision-making under ambiguity - Strong documentation disciplineWhy This Role Is Unique- You will architect a nation-scale military mission system, not a single deployment. - You will influence how mission planning is done across multiple Army units. - You will shape architecture that must survive 15–20 years of operational life. - You will work directly with uniformed users, DPSU engineers, and certification authorities.About UsWe are an Indian aerospace & defence company building mission systems, simulators, and airborne/ground software for the Indian military and global customers. Our work spans mission planning, simulation, debrief, and training systems, with active programs across Army, Air Force, and Navy platforms. How to ApplyIf you enjoy deep technical ownership, defence-grade engineering, and long-horizon system thinking, we’d like to talk.- Apply via LinkedIn or write to:info@
