Position: DG SS EngineerWork Location: Mumbai and JamnagarRole OverviewThe DG SS Engineer will be responsible for 24x7 operations and maintenance of utilities, ensuring uninterrupted power availability and high service reliability. The role includes managing Diesel Generator systems, substations, DRUPS, electrical distribution systems, and associated mechanical utilities while maintaining the highest SLA standards and driving energy efficiency initiatives.Scope of Work- Operation and maintenance of utilities including: - Substations - Chiller house - DRUPS and SDMO Diesel Generator sets - Centrifugal pumps, fans, and blowers - Energy efficiency improvement initiatives - Maintaining SLA and uptime of critical power infrastructureKey Responsibilities1. Availability & Uptime Management- Ensure 24x7x365 uptime of Diesel Generators and auxiliary systems - Emergency power operations and coordination during outages - Inter-site coordination during planned and unplanned shutdowns2. Maintenance Management- Preparation and execution of preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance schedules - Monitoring performance of managed service vendors against defined SLAs - Root cause analysis (RCA) of equipment failures and implementation of corrective actions - Handling shutdowns without impacting services3. Technical Operations & MaintenanceElectrical Systems- Operation and maintenance of electrical systems ranging from: - 11 KV, 6.6 KV, and 433 V - Transformers ranging from 2.5 MVA to 12.5 MVA - HT & LT switchgear: - 11 KV / 6.6 KV VCBs - 433 V ACBs - HT/LT panels, PCC panels, MCC panels, power & lighting distribution boards - Protective relays and protection systems - BMS system monitoringPower Backup Systems- Emergency Diesel Generator sets ranging from 160 KVA to 3000 KVA - DRUPS (Dynamic Rotary UPS) systems - DG battery banks and battery chargers - Control, interlock, and protection systems of DGs and DRUPS4. Fuel & Material Management- Diesel handling operations including: - Loading and unloading diesel from tankers to main storage tanks - Auto operation of diesel day tank filling systems - Spares management (own inventory / VMI)5. Energy Efficiency & Optimization- Identify, propose, and implement energy conservation and optimization schemes - Monitor power consumption and system performance for efficiency improvements6. Safety, Compliance & Emergency Handling- Knowledge of hazardous area classification - Monitoring of fire detection and fire-fighting systems - Coordination with fire department during emergencies - Preparation of work permits for maintenance and shutdown activities - Ensuring compliance with safety procedures and statutory norms7. Team & Operations Management- Preparation of shift rosters and maintenance schedules - Training and guidance of technicians and junior staff - Supervision of day-to-day operations as per SOPs - Handling equipment breakdowns and emergency situations8. Reporting & Documentation- Preparation of MIS reports - Maintaining maintenance records, logs, and statutory documentation - System and procedure development for electrical and mechanical maintenanceDesired Technical Skills & Knowledge- Strong knowledge of: - DG sets up to 3000 KVA - Electrical and mechanical measuring instruments - Vibration analysis and equipment lubrication practices - Preventive and predictive maintenance techniquesQualifications & ExperienceWho Can Apply- Diploma Engineers in Electrical, Mechanical, or related disciplines - 5–6 years of hands-on experience in Operations & Maintenance of DG sets and power utilities
