The individual in this role will lead and oversee the Microbiology department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality diagnostic and clinical services. Core responsibilities include managing laboratory operations, performing microbiological testing, supervising staff, implementing quality assurance protocols, and staying updated with the latest research and advancements in microbiology. The role also involves mentoring junior staff, participating in hospital infection control activities, and collaborating with other departments to enhance patient care and outcomes.QualificationsMD / DNB in Microbiology (Mandatory)Experience: Minimum 8–10 years post-qualification experience; leadership experience preferredHead and manage overall Microbiology Department operationsEnsure compliance with applicable quality and regulatory standardsLead infection control initiatives and support antimicrobial stewardship programsDevelop, implement, and periodically review SOPs, antibiotic policies, and surveillance reportsProvide expert microbiology consultation to cliniciansEnsure accuracy, quality, and timely release of laboratory reportsTrain, mentor, and supervise microbiologists, residents, and technical staffLead departmental audits, quality improvement initiatives, and documentationParticipate in academic, teaching, and research activities as applicableRegistration: Kerala State Medical Council registration
