Job title: Employment Attorney (US Employment Law)Location: Pune, India (WFO only)Type: Full-TimeDaily Schedule: Mon - Fri (6.00 PM to 3.00 AM IST) (CST time zone)Compensation: Based on experienceAbout the RoleWe are seeking an experienced legal professional to support a US-based company from our Pune office. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in US employment and labor law and the ability to advise on HR and workplace compliance matters. This role requires working closely with US leadership and HR teams to ensure legal compliance, develop policies, manage employment disputes, and maintain a strong, ethical workplace culture.Key ResponsibilitiesEmployment CounselProvide in-house legal guidance on all US employment-related matters, including compliance with federal and state labor laws.Labor & Employment AttorneyAdvise on workplace issues such as employee disputes, disciplinary actions, labor relations, and union-related matters (where applicable).Employment Law SpecialistOffer specialized legal advice on employment regulations, workplace policies, risk assessment, and compliance frameworks.Legal Counsel – Employment & HRPartner with HR teams to ensure people operations and policies align with US employment law standards.Participate in drafting and reviewing employee contracts, handbooks, and policy updates.HR Legal AdvisorSupport HR in employee relations matters, investigations, and policy interpretation.Employment & Workplace Relations LawyerManage internal workplace investigations, employment disputes, and ensure fair and legally compliant resolution processes.M&A Responsibilities:Conduct due diligence on potential acquisitions, including legal, financial, operational, and HR-related assessments.Assist in the drafting and negotiation of term sheets, purchase agreements, and other M&A transaction documents.Coordinate with cross-functional teams (finance, legal, operations) to ensure smooth execution throughout the transaction lifecycle.Prepare reports, risk analyses, and summaries for leadership on deal feasibility and compliance issues.Manage documentation, regulatory filings, and closing activities for each transaction.Travel to target company locations (domestic and international as needed) for site visits, diligence meetings, and integration planning.Support post-acquisition activities, including integration of HR policies, compliance reviews, and legal transition requirements.Requirements10+ years of combined legal and leadership experience, ideally in fast-paced or small/mid-size business environments.Strong expertise in US labor laws, employment compliance, and workplace best practices.Experience advising executives and influencing decision-making at a senior level.Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.Ability to work US business hours.
