Our hybrid delivery model blends strong onshore presence with offshore capability to deliver resilient, scalable outcomes for our clients.The RoleWe’re seeking a Senior ERP Systems Engineer (IBM i) to join our Applications Support practice, embedded onsite with one of our key enterprise clients in the manufacturing and distribution sector in Melbourne.This is a hands-on senior role focused on the support, stabilisation, and ongoing operation of legacy ERP platforms running on IBM i / AS400, including BPCS, ASW, and IBS.You’ll work closely with the client’s Applications team while remaining a Talink employee, providing technical leadership, strong ownership, and guidance across a hybrid onshore/offshore support model.Relocation to Australia is required, and Talink will provide relocation support for the successful candidate.Client & Technology EnvironmentYou’ll be working in a complex, mission-critical ERP landscape across Australia and New Zealand, including:- BPCS 6.1 – Manufacturing (core stable with significant custom modules) - ASW 3.5 – Distribution (heavily customised) - IBS 6.1 – Distribution - IBS Integrator – Middleware & integrations - IBM i / AS400 platform - Technologies: RPG (RPG III / RPGLE / ILE), CL, DB2/400These systems underpin core manufacturing, warehousing, and distribution operations and require deep technical understanding and operational maturity.What You’ll Be DoingERP Application Support & Operations- Provide senior-level support across BPCS, ASW, and IBS environments - Diagnose and resolve complex production issues across applications, integrations, and batch processes - Own BAU operations, system health monitoring, and batch job oversight - Act as a senior escalation point for critical and recurring incidentsIntegration & Interface Support- Support integrations via IBS Integrator and custom IBM i interfaces - Analyse and resolve interface failures and data inconsistencies - Improve stability and reliability of the integration layerIncident, Problem & Change Management- Lead root cause analysis and post-incident reviews - Identify recurring issues and contribute to preventative problem management - Support safe, controlled change implementation including testing and deploymentDocumentation & Knowledge Capture- Document system architecture, custom modules, integrations, and batch processes - Create and maintain run-books, diagnostic guides, and support documentation - Reduce reliance on individual SMEs through structured knowledge captureCollaboration & Leadership- Work as a trusted member of the client’s Applications team - Provide technical guidance and task direction to offshore Talink teams in India - Drive effective knowledge transfer across onshore and offshore teams - Take end-to-end ownership of assigned workContinuous Improvement- Identify risks, technical debt, and opportunities to improve system stability - Contribute to incremental enhancements and operational efficienciesWhat We’re Looking For✅ Essential Experience- 10+ years supporting ERP systems on IBM i / AS400 - Strong hands-on experience with: - BPCS 6.1 - ASW (preferably 3.5) and/or IBS - IBS Integrator or similar IBM i integration tooling - Advanced skills in RPG (RPG III / RPGLE / ILE), CL, and DB2/400 - Proven background in production support of highly customised legacy systems - Strong diagnostic and problem-solving capability - Experience working in hybrid onshore/offshore delivery models⭐ Desirable- Exposure to manufacturing, warehousing, or distribution environments - Experience with EDI or file-based integrations - Familiarity with IBM i change tools (e.g. Aldon, TurnOver) - Previous client-embedded or onsite experienceWays of WorkingWe’re looking for more than technical expertise.
