This unique position involves working half a day at a mainstream school and the remaining half day at our therapy centre, providing both in-school support and structured therapeutic intervention.Responsibilities:School-based duties (half-day)- Provide one-on-one support to a child on the autism spectrum during classroom activities - Help the child understand and follow classroom routines, instructions, and expectations - Assist with academic tasks and modify learning materials as needed to match the child's learning style - Support the child in developing social skills and appropriate peer interactions - Facilitate the child's participation in classroom activities and group work - Monitor and redirect behaviours using positive reinforcement strategies - Communicate regularly with the classroom teacher regarding the child's progress and needs - Help the child transition smoothly between different activities and environments within the school - Maintain detailed observation notes and track the child's developmental progressTherapy Centre Duties (half-day)- Conduct individual therapy sessions based on the child's Individualised Education Plan (IEP) - Work on specific skill development goals, including communication, social, academic, and self-care skills - Prepare session materials and maintain organised therapy resources - Document session progress, maintain accurate records, and prepare progress reports - Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team, including ABA therapists, special educators, and other professionals - Communicate regularly with parents regarding the child's progress and provide guidance on home-based strategies - Participate in team meetings and case discussionsRequirements:- Bachelor's degree - Understanding of autism spectrum disorders and special educational needs - Knowledge of classroom management and behavioural support strategies - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills - Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children with special needs - Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, therapists, and parents - Strong observational and documentation skills - Can adapt accordingly to meet the needs of individual students; - Knowledge and experience in therapy for autism are highly desirable for this position.
