An Automobile Service Manager runs an efficient, profitable service department by leading staff (hiring, training, managing), overseeing daily operations (workflow, scheduling), ensuring customer satisfaction (handling complaints, building loyalty), managing finances (budgets, sales goals), maintaining compliance (safety, manufacturer policies), and controlling inventory (parts, tools) to drive revenue and customer retention. Key Responsibilities1. Operations Management: - Oversee daily workflow, scheduling technicians and jobs for efficiency. - Monitor and maintain service department performance metrics. - Manage budgets, control costs, and ensure profitability. - Ensure compliance with safety, environmental, and manufacturer policies. - Maintain service records and manage parts/tool inventory. 2. Team Leadership & Development: - Hire, train, and mentor service technicians and support staff. - Set performance goals and conduct performance reviews. - Foster a positive, productive team environment and motivate staff. - Conduct regular team meetings and technical training. 3. Customer Service & Relations: - Handle customer inquiries, complaints, and warranty issues. - Build customer loyalty and ensure high satisfaction levels. - Communicate inspection findings and service recommendations to customers. - Collaborate with sales/marketing for promotions. 4. Quality & Standards: - Ensure high-quality repairs and minimize comebacks. - Conduct quality checks on completed jobs. - Stay updated on new technologies, industry trends, and manufacturer updates.
