Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities 1. Technical Standards & Regulatory Compliance Apply and ensure compliance with offshore and FPSO-related codes and standards including, but not limited to: API, ISO, DNV, ABS, LR AISC, Eurocode, NORSOK (as applicable) Flag State, Class, and Client-specific requirements Ensure structural designs meet regulatory, safety, and operability requirements for offshore facilities. 2. Design Basis, Specifications & Philosophy Assist in the development of Structural Design Basis, Design Philosophy, Specifications, Typical Details, and Engineering Guidelines for FPSO and offshore structures. Review and validate documents with the Lead Structural Engineer prior to issuance. 3. Structural Analysis & Design (FPSO & Offshore Structures) Independently develop and execute complex global and local structural analysis models for offshore structures, including: FPSO topsides and hull interface structures Primary and secondary steel structures Lifting, transportation, installation, and sea-fastening structures Perform strength, fatigue, accidental, and serviceability analyses using industry-standard software. Prepare and issue engineering deliverables including calculations, drawings, MTO, and WCR. 4. Design Review & Quality Assurance Review and verify structural analysis models, calculations, and drawings prepared by internal teams and subcontractors. Ensure compliance with FPSO project specifications, Class requirements, and good offshore engineering practice. Propose design optimizations to improve constructability, weight, cost, and schedule. 5. Local Structure Design & Calculations Perform independent hand and spreadsheet-based calculations for local structures such as: Padeyes, trunnions, and lifting points Pipe racks, pipe supports, equipment supports Beams, stiffeners, grillages, and foundations Prepare calculation notes suitable for Class approval. 6. Weight Control & Material Take-Off Prepare and maintain MTO and WCR for in-house FPSO and offshore structural designs. Review and validate MTO/WCR prepared by subcontractors and suppliers. Consolidate weight data from multiple packages and support overall FPSO topsides and hull weight management. 7. Interface Management Resolve structural interface issues with: Hull, topsides, mooring, and riser systems Mechanical, piping, electrical, and instrumentation disciplines EPC contractors, vendors, and Class representatives Support integrated design to ensure constructability and offshore operability. 8. Subcontractor, Vendor & Team Coordination Assist the Lead Structural Engineer in managing engineering subcontractors and consultants. Review vendor drawings and calculations related to offshore structures and equipment supports. Mentor and technically support junior structural engineers. 10. FEED, Proposal & Operational Support Provide structural engineering input during proposal, tender, and FEED phases, including design concepts, weight estimation, and risk identification. Support operations and asset integrity teams with structural assessments, modifications, and life-extension studies. Typical Experience: 15–20 years of structural engineering experience in FPSO, offshore platforms, or floating production systems. Software Exposure: SACS
