Role SummaryOwn and build SwanSat’s BFSI cloud with agriculture as the primary domain.This role is responsible for identifying, validating, and scaling agriculture-fi rst BFSI products that help farmers manage risk, protect income, and improve fi nancial resilience. Insurance is one of the use cases within this BFSI cloud, alongside other agri-focused fi nancial protection and risk-management products.The Entrepreneur-in-Residence will operate with real ownership across execution, partnerships, product direction, and P&L, while shaping the long-term BFSI roadmap for the company.This is a build-from-scratch and scale role. It requires comfort with ambiguity, fi rst-principles thinking, and accountability when assumptions, products, or partnerships fail.ResponsibilitiesStrategy & Vision● Defi ne the long-term strategy and product roadmap for SwanSat’s agri-focused BFSI offerings.● Research and evaluate agriculture-fi rst BFSI opportunities, including:○ farmer income and yield protection models○ risk-transfer or risk-mitigation products○ weather and event-linked fi nancial mechanisms● Translate fi eld insights, market research, and data signals into:○ clear product hypotheses○ roadmap priorities○ pilot defi nitions and success metrics● Ensure products are designed with regulatory awareness, operational feasibility, and clear farmer value.● Continuously refi ne the roadmap based on adoption, outcomes, and on-ground learnings.Operations & Execution● Own execution of BFSI products in the market, including insurance and other agri-linked fi nancial offerings.● Learn and manage core BFSI workfl ows from fi rst principles, including underwriting logic, claims processes (where applicable), and partner operations.● Coordinate closely with BFSI partners to ensure smooth execution and timely issue resolution.● Anticipate operational failure modes across products and defi ne recovery paths early.Partner & Stakeholder Management● Build and manage relationships with:○ BFSI ecosystem partners (insurers, fi nancial institutions, risk carriers)○ agri-focused distribution partners (FPOs, agri-companies, cooperatives, aggregators)○ internal product, technology, and data teams● Explore co-creation opportunities where fi nancial products intersect with crop intelligence, advisory, and fi eld data.● Manage partner expectations and resolve misalignment directly.Scaling & Growth● Scale agri-focused BFSI products across geographies, crops, and farmer segments.● Support rollout of products such as:○ yield or income protection mechanisms○ parametric or index-linked risk products○ crop-protection or input-linked fi nancial products○ livestock and allied agri fi nancial use cases (as applicable)● Identify bottlenecks in execution, distribution, or servicing and address them before scale amplifi es risk.Financial Ownership & P&L Management● Own the P&L for the BFSI cloud across products.● Track revenue, cost structures, and unit economics.● Support pricing and commercial negotiations with partners.● Make informed decisions on which products to scale, iterate, or discontinue.Team Building & Internal Operations● Hire and manage team members as BFSI initiatives scale.● Establish SOPs and governance frameworks across BFSI products.● Build a culture of ownership, accountability, and execution under ambiguity.Management Reporting● Provide regular, structured updates to leadership on:○ BFSI product performance○ fi nancial metrics and unit economics○ roadmap progress○ risks, dependencies, and learnings● Present insights that inform decisions, not just status.Our Ideal Profile● Strong interest or experience in agriculture-linked BFSI or rural fi nancial products with 2-3 years of experience in Banking or Insurance Sector● Comfortable learning BFSI constructs from fi rst principles.● Experience or inclination toward product strategy and roadmap ownership.● Able to connect agronomic realities, farmer behavior, and fi nancial risk into product design.● Commercially minded with an interest in P&L ownership.● Execution-focused, with the ability to think strategically.● Comfortable owning failures and iterating products based on real-world feedback.This role is not a fi t if you:● Want to focus only on traditional BFSI/insurance roles.● Avoid ambiguity or early-stage execution.● Prefer predefi ned products without experimentation.● Enjoy research without ownership.Why Join UsMost BFSI roles operate within fixed product boundaries.
