Job Title:XR Hardware, Fabrication & IoT EngineerDepartment:XR – R&D (Hardware & Physical Systems)Location:Vapi, Gujarat / On-siteReports To:Senior Manager – XR R&DJob Purpose:To design, develop, and integrate physical hardware systems for XR / VR applications using IoT, embedded electronics, mechanical design, and advanced fabrication techniques. The role focuses on building interactive physical interfaces, haptic devices, smart props, and XR-integrated hardware that enhance immersive experiences through real-world interaction, sensing, and feedback.Key Responsibilities:1. XR Hardware & IoT System DevelopmentDesign and develop XR-interfaced hardware using Arduino, ESP32, and Raspberry Pi platforms.Integrate sensors, actuators, haptics, LEDs, motors, and wireless communication modules (WiFi/BLE).Develop embedded firmware for real-time interaction, data acquisition, and device control.Enable seamless communication between physical hardware and XR applications.2. Mechanical Design & CADDesign mechanical components and assemblies using Creo / CATIA / SolidWorks.Create ergonomic, wearable, and prop-based designs for XR interaction.Perform tolerance analysis, mechanism design, and assembly validation.Optimize designs for manufacturability, durability, and user comfort.3. Digital Fabrication & PrototypingExecute rapid prototyping using 3D printing (FDM / SLA).Develop molds and cast components using silicone, resin, and polyurethane.Support CNC machining, laser cutting, and mechanical finishing processes.Assemble functional prototypes for XR demos, testing, and user trials.4. PCB Design & Electronics IntegrationDesign schematics and PCB layouts using KiCad / Altium / Eagle.Develop custom PCBs for sensor hubs, motor control, power management, and IoT communication.Oversee PCB fabrication, soldering, testing, and debugging.Ensure electrical reliability, safety, and EMI considerations.5. XR System Integration & TestingCollaborate with XR software teams to integrate hardware with Unity / Unreal-based XR systems.Support calibration, latency optimization, and real-time feedback loops.Conduct testing to validate interaction accuracy, responsiveness, and reliability.Support XR demos, proof-of-concepts, and pilot deployments.6. Documentation & ComplianceMaintain documentation for CAD models, PCB designs, firmware, and assembly procedures.Prepare BOMs, wiring diagrams, and prototype build instructions.Ensure adherence to XR lab safety, R&D SOPs, and quality guidelines.7. Cross-Functional CollaborationWork closely with XR developers, designers, industrial designers, and product teams.Participate in design reviews, prototyping sessions, and usability testing.Provide technical insights to improve XR realism, interaction quality, and scalability.8. Demo, Training & SupportSupport internal and external XR demos, exhibitions, and training sessions.Troubleshoot hardware issues during demos and live interactions.Implement improvements based on user feedback and XR performance observations.Qualifications and Experience:Bachelor’s / Diploma in Electronics, Mechatronics, Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Related Engineering.2–6 years of hands-on experience in IoT, fabrication, embedded systems, or hardware prototyping.Experience working on XR, VR, robotics, interactive installations, or product prototyping is preferred.Skills and Competencies:Strong hands-on experience with Arduino, ESP32, Raspberry Pi.Proficiency in Creo / CATIA / SolidWorks for mechanical design.Experience with 3D printing, molding, and fabrication techniques.PCB design experience using KiCad / Altium / Eagle.Knowledge of sensors, actuators, motors, haptics, and wireless communication.Strong problem-solving and hands-on prototyping mindset.Ability to collaborate with software and design teams in XR environments.Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):Quality and reliability of XR hardware and physical interaction systems delivered.Timely completion of prototypes, hardware integrations, and demos.Effectiveness of physical interaction, responsiveness, and immersion quality.Reduction in hardware issues, rework, and integration delays.Contribution to innovation, XR realism, and experiential quality.
