Job Description

Description- As a Senior Consultant – Rail Modelling and Simulation at GCC, you will be part of a group that is a trusted advisory and delivery partner to transport businesses and governments both in the UK and overseas. You will work alongside rail operational consultants, engineers to lead development of analytical and visual models that demonstrate how rail systems can be operated. - The role requires demonstrated experience in Agent based Modelling, ideally with Any Logic software experience, strategic and critical thinking together with understanding of how a railway system can be operated to deliver the outcomes of moving people and goods to deliver social, economic, and environmental value and help our clients solve the most complex rail transportation problems. - The role requires a strong technical background in the modelling and simulation domain to be able to manage the development, provide technical support to the team members and work with internal stakeholders in the lead country for delivering the projects/programs meeting the timeline, all the relevant technical, safety, quality & regulatory standards and within the budget.Responsibilities- Working collaboratively as part of a team to lead, mentor and grow a team for development of innovative solutions to complex rail problems. - Leading technical discussions and challenges that arise during project execution, providing innovative solutions and guidance. - Development of AnyLogic and analytical skills in junior team members. - Scoping out project modelling requirements and undertaking data analysis/preparation. - Developing or enhancing AnyLogic models in accordance with our Quality Assurance processes to deliver project outcomes to time and budget. - Assisting to produce clearly written, concise and professional quality reports and proposals to our clients. - Coordinating with the lead country and manging junior team members, including supporting resource management responsibilities. - Monitor project progress, prepare reports and communicate key updates to management and stakeholders. - Sharing lessons learned and knowledge with the team, engaging in development opportunities across projects, team meetings and through industry engagements. - Drive a culture of safety within the team, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and risk management strategies.QualificationsBachelor’s degree in Industrial / Mechanical / Computer Science Engineering, Applied Mathematics or a related discipline.Experience- Minimum of 8+ years of experience in planning, analyzing, designing, applying, evaluating and developing simulation models & innovative solutions to solve the complex problems in the rail transportation or similar industry. - Proficiency in Any Logic software or equivalent agent-based modelling software. - Hands-on experience in a leadership or supervisory role.Desired Skills and Knowledge- Familiar with engineering design software, simulation software, coding, debugging and data analysis tools. - Strong in data analysis, interpretation, attention to detail and problem solving. - An ability to reason logically and apply a systematic process to finding solutions, proactive in responding to problems, able to apply sound logic in situations of ambiguity and problem-solving methodologies across a range of circumstances. - Actively champion sharing knowledge, ideas, and intelligence.
