Job Description

Key Responsibilities1. Cedant Relationship Management- Act as the primary point of contact for assigned cedants (insurance companies / MGAs / corporates). - Build, manage, and strengthen long-term relationships with cedants by understanding their Marine portfolio, risk appetite, and underwriting strategy. - Support cedants with product design, capacity solutions, and reinsurance structuring. - Ensure high levels of service delivery and client satisfaction.2. Reinsurance Placement & Structuring- Structure and place Marine reinsurance programs including Treaty and Facultative business. - Handle placements for Hull, Cargo, Liability, Offshore Energy, and other Marine lines as applicable. - Negotiate terms, pricing, limits, deductibles, and wordings with reinsurers. - Coordinate with global and domestic reinsurers to secure optimal capacity and coverage. - Prepare and present submission documents, slips, and placement notes.3. Book Management & Expansion- Manage and grow the existing Marine reinsurance book in line with company growth targets. - Identify new business opportunities with existing and prospective cedants. - Develop strategies to expand the Marine portfolio across geographies and product lines. - Monitor profitability, retention, and loss ratios of the Marine reinsurance book.4. Reinsurer Relationship Management- Develop and maintain strong relationships with domestic and international reinsurers. - Regularly engage with reinsurers for market updates, appetite discussions, and renewal strategies. - Represent the organization in reinsurance meetings, market visits, and industry events.5. Renewals & Portfolio Reviews- Lead Marine treaty renewals, including data analysis, exposure review, and renewal strategy. - Conduct portfolio reviews with cedants and reinsurers to improve program performance. - Work closely with analytics, claims, and accounting teams for seamless renewals.6. Leadership & Internal Coordination- Mentor and guide junior team members within the Marine reinsurance team. - Collaborate with placement, analytics, claims, and operations teams to ensure smooth execution. - Contribute to process improvement, market intelligence, and best practices within the reinsurance function.7. Compliance & Governance- Ensure compliance with IRDAI regulations, company policies, and reinsurance guidelines. - Maintain proper documentation, audit trails, and reporting standards.Key Skills & Competencies- Strong expertise in Marine insurance and reinsurance (Treaty & Facultative). - Excellent negotiation and relationship-management skills. - Strong understanding of cedant and reinsurer perspectives. - Analytical mindset with ability to assess risk, exposure, and profitability. - Leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills. - Ability to work independently and manage senior-level client interactions.
