Job Description

Position Overview – EHS Manager (South & West ) The Head of EHSwill lead the EHS function across all Indian operations. The role drives regulatory compliance, risk mitigation, environmental sustainability, and safety culture transformation in alignment with global ZEISS standards.Key Responsibilities EHS Develop and implement ZEISS India’s EHS strategy aligned with global frameworks. Advise senior management on EHS risks, performance, and investments. Promote a strong safety culture across all sites and operations. 2. Compliance & Risk Management Ensure compliance with national and state EHS regulations (CPCB, SPCB, Factories Act, OHS Codes, Fire Safety, Waste Management Rules, etc.). Lead enterprise-wide risk assessments, HAZOP/HAZID, and mitigation plans. Oversee incident investigations, RCA, and CAPA implementation. 3. Operations & Safety Systems Manage EHS systems such as ISO 14001, ISO 45001, and ZEISS global standards. Oversee chemical safety, equipment safety, ergonomics, electrical & machine safety. Develop procedures tailored to manufacturing, laboratory, and heavy-equipment operations. Ensure contractor and vendor EHS compliance. 4. Training & Capability Building Design and deliver EHS training for employees, contractors, and service engineers. Implement behavioural-based safety and safety leadership initiatives. Build EHS competencies across managers and site leads.5. Environmental & Sustainability Programs Lead environmental initiatives including waste reduction, emissions control, water management, and energy efficiency. Support ZEISS global sustainability goals and reporting requirements. 6. Reporting & Analytics Maintain compliance dashboards, EHS KPIs, audit reports, and incident metrics. Provide regular updates to local and global leadership.Qualifications & Experience Required Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Industrial Safety, or a related field. 4-8 years of EHS experience with at least 3–7 years in the heavy machinery, capital equipment, or heavy industrial manufacturing sector (mandatory). Proven leadership experience managing EHS for multi-site operations. Strong knowledge of Indian EHS regulations and international standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001). Experience implementing machine safety, equipment commissioning safety, and contractor safety programs typical to heavy industry. Preferred Post-Graduate Diploma / Master’s in Industrial Safety or EHS. NEBOSH / IOSH / ISO Lead Auditor certifications
