Job Description

UPES invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Power Engineering/Power Management. The ideal candidate will bring strong domain knowledge, research orientation, and a deep interest in academic growth and innovation. The role involves teaching postgraduate courses, developing industry-relevant academic content, contributing to research, and engaging in academic administration.Key ResponsibilitiesTeaching & Academic Engagement- Teach core and elective courses in Power Engineering, Power Management, Energy Systems, and related areas. - Develop and update course curriculum to align with industry trends, emerging technologies, and applied learning needs. - Use innovative pedagogical methods, including case studies, simulations, and blended learning approaches.Research & Publications- Engage in high-quality research in power engineering, energy systems, renewables, and allied domains. - Publish research in reputed national and international journals, conferences, and scholarly platforms. - Work towards securing research grants, consultancy assignments, and collaborative projects with industry and government bodies.Industry & Institutional Collaboration- Bring practical insights into teaching based on current market trends and technological developments in the power and energy sector. - Support the development of industry-oriented programs, workshops, and training modules. - Engage with industry experts for guest lectures, curriculum input, and project opportunities.Academic Administration- Participate in departmental and university-level academic committees. - Support accreditation, program development, and quality assurance activities.Required Qualifications & ExperienceEducational Qualifications- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Power Engineering. - Master’s degree in Power/Energy/Renewable Engineering or allied fields (mandatory). - Ph.D. in a relevant discipline (completed or nearing completion) preferred.Technical & Domain Expertise- Strong understanding of core subjects such as power systems, energy management, power plant engineering, renewable energy systems, smart grids, and related areas. - Knowledge of current market trends, regulatory frameworks, and emerging technological advancements in the power industry. - Ability to integrate practical and applied insights into academic content development.Desired Attributes- Passion for teaching and mentoring students. - Strong research orientation with demonstrable publications (preferred). - Excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills. - Commitment to professional ethics, academic integrity, and collaborative work.
