Job Description

About the CompanyWho are we? Whatfix is an AI platform advancing the “userization” of enterprise applications, empowering companies to maximize the ROI of their digital investments. Technology needs adoption. It’s no different for AI. As AI reshapes roles, workflows, and human-machine interactions, it also introduces new layers of complexity and user friction. This is where Whatfix plays a pivotal role. A decade old DNA of empowering people to succeed with technology and not replacing them. We call this philosophy Userization: the belief that technology must adapt to the user, not the other way around. At the heart of userization philosophy is ScreenSense, our proprietary AI engine, which continuously interprets both the context of what users are doing in an application or an AI tool and the intent behind their actions. By combining these signals, Whatfix delivers real-time guidance, nudges, knowledge, and automation directly in the flow of work. This intelligence powers our entire product suite.- Digital Adoption helps users get productive faster. - Product Analytics uncovers friction and closes adoption gaps. - Mirror allows employees to train in safe, simulated environments. These are embedded with Whatfix AI Agents which supercharge creation, insights, and user guidance. Our upcoming AI-first products are already creating a buzz in the market.- Seek is an AI-native assistant that not only knows your business context but can also act across applications to get work done on your behalf. - Whatfix Mirror 2.0 is the world’s only System plus Role simulation with a complete assessment to lead the Gen AI simulation category.Together, these products reflect Whatfix’s commitment to building enterprise-ready AI teammates that maximize productivity and ROI. You will lead a team of designers, partner closely with Product and Engineering leadership, and make decisions that directly shape what ships, how it connects across products, and how users experience value. You will operate as a player-coach at the right altitude: setting direction, developing people, and stepping into hands-on problem solving selectively when the work is complex, high-risk, or foundational. You are expected to own outcomes, not just process. What You’ll OwnDesign Leadership & Accountability- Own design outcomes for the DAP product area: what ships, how it connects across products, and whether it meets the quality standard for usability, consistency, and craft. - Set and maintain a clear experience direction aligned to business strategy and product priorities. - Represent design as a decision-making partner in product planning, prioritization, and tradeoff discussions.Team Leadership & People Management- Lead, coach, and develop a team of designers, including senior designers and/or design leads. - Set clear expectations, provide direct feedback, and manage performance with consistency and fairness. - Hire, onboard, and grow talent building toward long-term team health and succession. - Create an environment where designers can do high-quality, hypothesis-driven work while meeting delivery commitments.Strategy, Execution & Craft- Translate business goals and product strategy into clear experience priorities for the team. - Guide teams through the end-to-end design process, ensuring work is grounded in user needs, research, and sound judgment. - Step in hands-on when work requires it: complex workflows, cross-product experiences, or foundational patterns. - Use the design system and shared standards to drive consistency without stagnation. - Lead design reviews and critiques that raise the bar and sharpen decision-making, not just aesthetics.Cross-Functional Partnership- Partner closely with Product, Engineering, UX Research, and other stakeholders to ensure alignment from discovery through delivery. - Surface risks, gaps, and experience inconsistencies early — and work collaboratively to resolve them. - Advocate for users while balancing business goals, technical constraints, and delivery realities. - Act as a clear, reliable point of ownership for design within the DAP product area. What We’re Looking ForRequired Experience- 8+ years of experience in Product Design / UX, with 2-3 of those years leading and managing designers in SaaS or enterprise software environments. - Experience owning design across multiple initiatives or product surfaces, not just a single feature team. - Demonstrated ability to influence product direction, make tradeoffs, and align teams around a coherent experience vision. - Strong portfolio that shows your leadership impact: - Shipped work at scale. - Decisions you drove, teams you aligned, or direction you set.How You’ll Show Up- Comfortable operating in ambiguity and making decisions with imperfect information. - Direct, thoughtful communicator who gives clear feedback and expects the same. - Strong design judgment. You know when to push, when to simplify, and when to stop. - You know when high polish matters, experimentation leads, and when good enough ships.Nice to Have- Experience leading design for complex, multi-product or platform ecosystems. - Familiarity with accessibility standards and inclusive design practices. - Experience scaling teams, evolving design operations, or working through organizational change.
