Job Title:Chief Technology Officer (CTO)Location:Mumbai (Onsite / Hybrid Preferred)Role Summary:We are seeking an experienced Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to lead the technologyand engineering organization for a highly regulated, AI-driven orthodontic softwareplatform. This role requires a leader who can build scalable systems, enforceengineering rigor, and navigate medical-device and security compliance, while stillenabling rapid iteration at seed stage.The CTO will be responsible for ensuring that software, AI models, infrastructure, anddevelopment processes meet clinical, regulatory, and security requirements, whileempowering teams to deliver product value efficiently.Key Responsibilities:Technical Vision & Architecture:- Own the end-to-end technical architecture across backend, AI/ML systems, 3D - visualization, and cloud infrastructure - Design systems with regulatory compliance, auditability, and traceability built in from the start - Make pragmatic architecture decisions that balance innovation speed with compliance constraints - Define long-term platform strategy aligned with clinical and business objectivesEngineering Leadership & Governance (Primary Focus):- Lead and scale the engineering team from 10 to 20 engineers over 12 months - Establish engineering processes aligned with medical device software expectations (e.g., design controls, documentation, validation) - Define and enforce secure software development lifecycle (SSDLC) practices - Act as final technical authority for architecture, quality, and security decisionsRegulatory, Quality & Security Ownership:- Partner with regulatory and clinical stakeholders to support compliance with applicable medical device regulations - Ensure readiness for SOC 2 and security audits, including access control, logging, incident response, and data protection - Implement processes for software validation, model versioning, reproducibility, and audit trails - Ensure data privacy, encryption, and secure cloud architecture across the platformHands-On Technical Contribution:- Step in to design or review critical components during complex or high-risk technical work - Guide refactors needed to meet performance, security, or compliance requirements - Support AI/ML teams in building robust, explainable, and production-grade models - Debug complex cross-system issues spanning backend, AI pipelines, and infrastructureAI & Domain-Specific Systems:- Oversee development of Python + PyTorch AI pipelines used in orthodontic modelling and prediction - Ensure AI systems are versioned, validated, monitored, and explainable in a clinical context - Guide integration of AI outputs into clinician-facing workflows and 3D visualization systemsProduct & Cross-Functional Collaboration:- Work closely with product, clinical experts, QA, and leadership to translate regulatory and user requirements into technical systems - Communicate technical and compliance tradeoffs clearly to non-technical stakeholders - Support customer, partner, and auditor discussions when neededTechnology Stack- Backend: Node.js - AI/ML: Python, PyTorch - Frontend: React.js - 3D Visualization: Babylon.js - Cloud & Infrastructure: AWSRequired Qualifications:- 10+ years of software engineering experience - Prior experience as a CTO, VP Engineering, or senior technical leader in regulated or high-reliability software environments - Strong system architecture skills across backend, cloud, and data-intensive systems - Experience leading teams through security, compliance, or audit processes - Ability to balance fast-moving startup execution with engineering rigor - Strong communication skills with technical and non-technical stakeholdersPreferred Qualifications:- Experience with medical device software, healthcare platforms, or clinical decisionsupport systems - Familiarity with SOC 2, HIPAA, ISO-aligned development practices, or similar security frameworks - Experience operationalizing AI/ML systems in regulated environments - Exposure to 3D graphics, geometry processing, or CAD-like systems
