About the RoleWe’re looking for a Mainframe Infrastructure Consultant who understands the mainframe stack end to end—z/OS, core subsystems, performance, capacity, and operations. This role goes beyond day-to-day support. You’ll advise on platform stability, modernization readiness, cost optimization, and infrastructure strategy for large enterprise environments.You’ll work closely with clients, architects, system programmers, and operations teams to keep mission-critical platforms running reliably while preparing them for what’s next.Key ResponsibilitiesProvide consulting and advisory support for IBM Mainframe (z/OS) infrastructureAssess current-state environments and recommend improvements in stability, performance, and capacityLead or support z/OS upgrades, migrations, and infrastructure refresh initiativesOversee system availability, resilience, and disaster recovery readinessAnalyze performance, CPU usage, and capacity trends; recommend tuning and optimizationSupport and guide system programming teams across z/OS, JES, and core utilitiesCollaborate with security teams on RACF policies and compliance requirementsAct as a technical escalation point for complex platform issuesCreate architecture documentation, standards, and best practicesMust-Have Skills & Experience8+ years of experience in Mainframe infrastructure / platform rolesStrong hands-on expertise with IBM z/OSSolid understanding of JES2/JES3, SMP/E, IPL processes, and system utilitiesExperience with performance monitoring, capacity planning, and tuningExposure to disaster recovery, high availability, and resilience planningAbility to engage with senior stakeholders and explain technical topics clearlyGood-to-Have SkillsExperience with RACF and mainframe security conceptsExposure to CICS, DB2, MQ from an infrastructure standpointKnowledge of z/OS v2.x upgrades and modernization initiativesAutomation or scripting (REXX, CLIST)Consulting experience in banking, insurance, or regulated industries
