Job Description 1. Operational Planning and Management Daily & Seasonal Planning: Develops schedules for pruning, watering, mowing, weeding, fertilizing, and planting based on seasonal needs. Site Inspections: Routinely inspects landscape areas, indoor plantscapes, and green walls to monitor plant health and identify aesthetic issues. Resource Coordination: Manages the procurement, installation, and maintenance of plants, soil, tools, and irrigation materials. System Maintenance: Ensures proper operation and repair of irrigation systems, sprayers, and other gardening equipment. 2. Team Supervision and Leadership Supervision & Training: Assigns, trains, and supervises gardeners, landscapers, and laborers in proper horticultural techniques and safety procedures. Performance Management: Evaluates the performance of horticultural staff, sets daily goals, and ensures work is completed efficiently. Conflict Resolution: Settles disputes among staff to maintain a productive and harmonious work environment. 3. Technical & Horticultural Duties Plant Health Care: Diagnoses and treats plant diseases, pests, and nutritional deficiencies, often implementing Integrated Pest Management (IPM) practices. Specialized Care: Ensures appropriate care for specialized areas, including vertical gardens, indoor landscaping, and, if applicable, exterior ornamental gardens. Waste Management: Ensures debris and green waste are disposed of, mulched, or composted according to site sustainability guidelines. 4. Safety and Compliance Safety Adherence: Enforces health and safety regulations (OHS) and ensures the proper use of protective equipment (PPE) when handling chemicals or operating machinery. Chemical Handling: Manages the safe storage, handling, and application of pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers. Regulatory Compliance: Ensures all horticultural practices meet local, state, or company environmental standards. 5. Administrative & Reporting Reporting: Prepares, maintains, and submits daily/weekly progress reports, attendance sheets, and inventory records to the facility manager. Budget Management: Monitors expenses related to labor and materials to ensure tasks are completed within budgetary constraints.
