In addition you will support Manager Development Engineering, Chief Engineer and R&D Teams to understand technical landscapes and articulate the technical aspects of projects. An essential function of this role is to support the Project Manager leading Cross Functional Teams to facilitate the delivery of defined Project deliverables, aligned with Departmental goals.- Typically act as the R&D core team member / R&D technical lead for the New Product Introduction projects, designing and launching a product (internally manufactured or sourced) within the confines of a New Product Development Stage Gate Process. - Provides assistance to R&D team members, assisting them in terms of prioritization, problem solving, and referrals to appropriate experts / SME’s. - Liaise with Marketing representing R&D to identify unmet customer needs and then lead cross functional effort to conceive, evaluate, and design new products to meet those needs. - Participates in R&D Project team meetings as necessary. Summarizes notes, action items, and decisions. - Contributes technical and product knowledge and/or manufacturing experience to team discussions. - Ability to apply and interpret Statistical Techniques and coach and mentor junior engineers in the use and application of statistical analysis tools. - Support Project Manager in estimating the resources and participants needed to achieve project goals on time and on budget with functional managers - Ability to meet the key deliverables in compliance with the Product Development Process (PDP) - Instill a sense of accountability among team members and influence them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned area of responsibility - Work with project teams to create project schedules/timelinesDESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE- Mechanical or Polymer Engineering degree, or equivalent, with knowledge of and experience with plastic part design and manufacturing processes - 5 years plus of product development experience within a regulatory environment. - Proven ability to partner cross functional organizations to successfully drive the business (relationship building skills is key – influencing – working through people) - Medical Device and Clinical Environment experience desirable with proven history delivering complex projects to agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) - Solid working knowledge of quality and regulatory requirements, plus experience dealing with regulatory agencies or outside professional groups (e.g. FDA, ISO, ANSI, etc.) - Test plan development and root cause failure analysis. - A strong communicator with good verbal and written communication skills including report development and technical presentations. - Strong analytical and problem solving capabilities with the ability to draw insights from data quickly and to define executable actions - An extensive multi-tasker, with high energy levels and strong organizational abilities.Familiar with DFSS methodologies. DFM and or DFA experience Six Sigma and Lean manufacturing experience. Project management training/experience.
