The Head of Marketing and Recruitment leads the development and approval of marketing, brand and communication initiatives to support the establishment, visibility and long-term growth of UWA’s India campus. This role provides strategic direction and leadership to the Communications Lead and oversees all brand, marketing and communication activities to ensure a cohesive, consistent and high-impact market presence. Reporting to the COO, the role has significant authority in developing India-focused marketing strategies, ensuring brand alignment with UWA’s global identity, partnership engagement and reputation-building efforts. As the senior point of accountability for marketing and brand, the Head of Marketing and Recruitment leads the planning, prioritization and approval of all marketing initiatives and provides expert guidance to ensure communications, messaging and content align with institutional priorities. This role plays a key part in shaping UWA India’s brand footprint, supporting student recruitment, strengthening partnerships and ensuring a consistent and high-impact marketpresence across India.Your key responsibilities:The position undertakes the following duties:• Lead the strategic direction, design and delivery of all marketing and engagement initiatives for UWA India, ensuring alignment with UWA’s global brand and local market needs.• Provide leadership, guidance and oversight to the Communications Lead, ensuring consistent messaging, brand governance and high-quality communication outputs across all channels.• Develop and implement comprehensive marketing plans supporting student recruitment, industry engagement and campus visibility.• Act as the senior brand custodian for UWA India, ensuring all materials and touchpoints adhere to UWA’s global brand standards and are tailored appropriately for Indian audiences.• Oversee marketing campaigns across digital, social, print and traditional media, ensuring integrated messaging and measurable impact.• Lead the development of core marketing assets, promotional content and brand campaigns that support institutional objectives.• Manage external creative, media and digital agencies, ensuring high-quality and cost effective delivery of services.• Conduct and interpret market research, competitor insights and audience data to inform strategy, positioning and campaign optimization.• Work closely with central UWA Marketing & Recruitment teams to coordinate cross campus campaigns, messaging and brand alignment.• Provide high-level advice to the COO and senior leadership on marketing strategy, brand positioning, audience engagement and communication risks.• Oversee brand representation at events, recruitment activities, partner engagements and government meetings.• Monitor marketing performance, analytics and ROI to ensure data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.• Ensure all marketing and communication activity complies with Indian regulations, data privacy standards and UWA governance requirements.Your specific work capabilities (selection criteria)• Relevant tertiary qualifications in marketing, communications, business or a related discipline, or demonstrated equivalent experience.• Demonstrated senior-level marketing and brand leadership experience, ideally in complex or international environments.• Proven ability to lead and mentor staff, set direction and oversee high-performing teams, including the Communications Lead.• Excellent written and verbal communication skills with proven ability to negotiate, persuade and influence stakeholders.• Extensive experience developing and executing data-informed marketing strategies that drive brand growth and business results.• Strong capability in digital marketing, campaign management, content strategy and audience engagement.• Outstanding communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence at senior levels.• Excellent planning, organisational and project management skills with experience overseeing multiple concurrent initiatives.• Experience managing external agencies, suppliers and vendors to deliver integrated marketing solutions.• Understanding of brand governance, reputational risk, media environments and market positioning principles.• Experience in higher education, international operations or multicultural settings is highly desirable.• Ability to work proactively, exercise sound judgement and lead a collaborative, outcomes-focused marketing function.Special requirements (selection criteria)• This position requires the satisfactory completion of pre-employment screening appropriate to a senior finance and fiduciary role, including verification of identity, qualifications and employment history, and any additional background or integrity checks required by applicable law or UWA India policies.
