Our engineering culture values ownership, speed, and clean system design, with a strong emphasis on building scalable, production-ready systems.We are looking for a skilled Backend Engineer to join our core engineering team and help design, build, and scale the backend systems that power our AI-driven products.Role OverviewAs a Backend Engineer at 169Pi, you will be responsible for building robust, scalable, and secure backend services that support AI models, APIs, and user-facing applications. You will work closely with frontend engineers, AI researchers, and product teams to turn ideas into reliable, production-grade systems.This role is ideal for someone who enjoys owning backend systems end-to-end and thrives in a fast-paced startup environment.Key Responsibilities1. Backend System Development- Design, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and APIs. - Build reliable systems to support AI/ML workflows, model inference, and data pipelines. - Ensure high performance, low latency, and fault tolerance across services.2. API & Service Architecture- Design clean, well-documented RESTful or GraphQL APIs. - Implement authentication, authorization, and role-based access control. - Collaborate with frontend teams to define API contracts and integrations.3. Databases & Data Management- Design and optimize relational and NoSQL databases. - Write efficient queries, manage migrations, and ensure data integrity. - Work with caching systems (Redis or similar) to improve performance.4. Scalability, Reliability & Security- Improve system scalability and reliability through monitoring, logging, and alerting. - Handle production issues, debugging, and performance optimization. - Follow best practices for security, data protection, and compliance.5. Infrastructure & Deployment- Work with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) to deploy and manage services. - Collaborate on CI/CD pipelines and automated deployments. - Contribute to infrastructure decisions that improve developer velocity.6.
