Platform Engineering LeadAbout the Role: We are looking for a Platform Architect and engineering leader with 15+ years of experience in building, designing, and scaling cloud platforms. The ideal candidate brings strong expertise in Azure, Kubernetes, and DevOps automation, along with the ability to stay hands-on writing code, reviewing technical designs, and driving complex architectural decisions. This leader should be able to guide engineering teams while remaining deeply involved in architecture, design reviews, infrastructure automation, and production operations. Known for its enterprise-grade performance, HCL Commerce offers advanced features and AI capabilities to enhance online transactions and customer experiences.Responsibilities Cloud & Platform Architecture● Lead cloud architecture for a global commerce platform running on Azure.● Define scalable and secure architecture patterns for services across all environments.● Drive multi-region strategy, availability planning, and disaster recovery readiness. Team &Technical Leadership● Lead platform and DevOps engineers responsible for cloud, Kubernetes, CI/CD, and operations.● Review designs, guide teams on standards, and ensure consistency across implementations. ● Support team growth through mentoring, technical direction, and structured feedback.Azure Platform Ownership● Oversee platform foundations including compute, networking, APIs, identity, and observability.● Build reusable infrastructure patterns to streamline environment setup.● Improve performance, reliability, and cost efficiency through proactive architectural decisions.Kubernetes Platform Management● Must have significant hands on production grade experience with Kubernetes.● Define the Kubernetes platform strategy, including deployment models, service onboarding, and operational practices.● Ensure stable and efficient operation of Kubernetes workloads across environments. Guide modernization initiatives and improvements in platform reliability.DevOps & Delivery Automation● Lead CI/CD modernization to improve delivery speed and release predictability.● Establish common automation practices and governance across teams. Reduce deployment risk through standardized pipelines and clear rollout processes.Operational Excellence● Set standards for monitoring, alerting, dashboards, and operational runbooks.● Introduce SLOs and structured RCA processes to improve reliability.● Partner with SRE and engineering teams to strengthen operational readiness. Security & Governance● Implement consistent rules for identity, access, and environment boundaries.● Ensure platform compliance and reduce risks through guardrails and automation.● Promote secure-by-default patterns across cloud and application teams.AI & Data Integration● Support ML and data teams by providing infrastructure patterns for AI models and data workflows.● Ensure seamless integration of these workloads into the platform without operational friction.Qualifications● 11+ years of experience in cloud, platform engineering, and large-scale system design● Strong hands-on expertise with Azure cloud, Kubernetes, and DevOps automation● Proven ability to architect multi-region, highly available platforms● Experienced in writing code, infrastructure automation, and CI/CD tooling● Skilled in leading engineering teams and raising technical standards● Strong understanding of cloud security, reliability engineering, and cost governance● Comfortable working with engineering, ML, and product teams in high-growth environments ● Track record of simplifying complex systems and improving operational maturityEducation: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a relevant field (or equivalent practical experience).
