Job Description – L3 Network Engineer Role Title L3 Network Engineer – LAN | WAN | Data Center | Network Security Role Summary We are seeking a Level 3 (L3) Network Engineer responsible for the design, implementation, and support of enterprise LAN, WAN, and Data Center networks. This role serves as the final technical escalation point, owning complex incident resolution, root cause analysis (RCA), network architecture, performance optimization, and security initiatives. Key Responsibilities Design, implement, and support LAN, WAN, and Data Center network infrastructure Act as L3 escalation point for complex network issues and lead root cause analysis (RCA) Manage routing and switching technologies including BGP, OSPF, VLANs, STP, and VXLAN Support firewalls, VPNs, SD-WAN solutions, and network security controls Lead network upgrades, migrations, hardware refreshes, and performance optimization Ensure high availability, redundancy, and scalability of network services Maintain accurate network diagrams, standards, SOPs, and documentation Mentor L1/L2 engineers and provide technical leadership Technical Skills – Required Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, OSI model, and advanced network troubleshooting Hands-on experience with routing & switching (BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, VLANs, STP, HSRP/VRRP) Hands-on experience with Cisco, Juniper, Palo Alto, Fortinet, Cisco FTD Experience with firewalls, site-to-site VPNs, remote access VPNs, and SD-WAN Experience using network monitoring and troubleshooting tools (SolarWinds, PRTG, Zabbix, Wireshark) Understanding of network security principles and segmentation Automation – Good to Hav e Python scripting for network automation and reporting Ansible for network configuration management and orchestration Exposure to REST APIs, NETCONF, or vendor automation frameworks Basic understanding of Infrastructure as Code (IaC) concepts Experience & Qualifications 7+ years of experience in enterprise networking environments Proven L3 escalation and incident ownership experience Experience supporting campus, data center, and WAN networks Strong documentation and communication skills Experience working in enterprise or MSP environments Certifications (Nice to Have) CCNP / CCIE (Enterprise, Routing & Switching, or Security) PCNSE (Palo Alto) or NSE 4/5/7 (Fortinet) Juniper JNCIP / JNCIE ITIL Foundation
